Who would've thunk I'd see the good ol' northern lights on the US side. Guess it's possible.

It was quite faint to the naked eye, but nothing like a good long exposure shot doesn't fix! Happened Friday night into Saturday.

Yeah... Probably a bit too much light pollution. You can see quite a bit in mine, though luckily it didn't affect the picture negatively.

If I panned about 90 degrees to the right, it would've been too bright thanks to a border crossing. So there's that too.

We had the Australis down our way instead, of course. I am quite privileged living on the southern coast of the North Island of NZ - I am regularly gifted rainbow coloured evening skies.

I actually missed the other days showing, not even being aware of it. I had already shut all the curtains in my house to watch movies and keep warm with my kid, so missed the purple skies. Here's some pics from others though.

Ahh I wish I hadn't been so sleepy the last couple of nights. A friend of mine sent me a text at midnight saying she could see them. And it wasn't even cloudy for once either! I just didn't feel like driving out to somewhere without light pollution that late (it's light pretty late here).

Did it actually look anything like your pictures to the naked eye?

The last 2 nights here have been cloudy or raining so I didn't get to see anything.

I went to look at their charts and apparently just yesterday the numbers hit over 7.

... but the steadyness tomorrow. I might have to try to see if I can look at some. Maybe get better pictures this time than a couple months ago.

A bit of visibility here. Didn't go outside as it's barely above freezing. I'm further north than you guys but it doesn't extend as far south on this side of the Atlantic.

I woke up this morning to a text from my mom sent late the previous night asking if I was still awake and with no other info following it. It scared the shit outta me until I realized she was probably just reminding me about the northern lights being visible. Whew.

Anyway it's too bright where I am and it was cold as fuck out, so I didn't feel like driving to somewhere dark. Oh well, maybe someday I'll see them.

My mom sent me this picture she took last night. She said it wasn't really visible to the naked eye though.

It went on for me from 8pm to 2am. It wasn't as vibrant with the naked eye but the colours and movement were definitely visible. I actually heard it too this time which was a first for me. Definitely was good where I'm located.
