Die Hard Arcade was the shit too.

Just watched Die Hard with the kids a week ago. They loved it. My kids rule.
My 12 year old son has 0 compulsion to play/watch anything violent or scary. The closest he's gotten to playing an FPS game is Splatoon.

It's wild to me, since my parents had me watching things like Robocop at 6.

That is to say I'm not going to get any of my kids to watch it until my youngest grows up. He just turned 3, and is already practicing his villain laugh.

I fail to see what is in this for me.

They're different (or at least were) to most other action movies of the time. Felt slightly more grounded maybe? Less completely I've unbelievable stuff, at least in the earlier ones.

I've never watched the Godfather, so I don't get the fervor of the fan base there. Die Hard were just fun movies with the more everyman choice of star compared to Schwarzenegger or Stallone. Willis was way more believable as a human, over the musclebois.

I'm not rabid for Die Hard and honestly it's been perhaps a decade since I watched any of them.

But holy fuck I just remembered the Die Hard Playstation light gun game. I played that about as much as Time Crisis and Point Blank! I think the light gun I had was some Scorpion gun model, kind of small compared to the giant Guncon for the other games.

I would play the fuck out of that light gun game again. Too bad those fell out of style with the change in TV type.
That's a good point. And I forgot I had heard that point made about Willis in a documentary a while back. I guess I could see the appeal then for people who grew up with that. I was in my thirties by the time I finally watched it.

"It insists upon itself."

Like Ben, I haven't watched The Godfather. I'm not interested in Mafia and crime-drama films. I have the trilogy on BD in the event I end up wanting to watch it, but that might be a long while.

Personally I think it's kinda shitty how the Mafia got romanticized and even admired after those films. Probably because the gang members are white and therefor aren't "thugs".

Both Die Hard and The Godfather are movies that were vastly ahead of their contemporaries and laid the groundwork for subsequent films.

A lot of conversations around these movies online remind me of the time that my friend finally watched the original Star Wars trilogy but didn't really like it, having seen the Family Guy parodies first.

Media literacy has always been shit when it comes to films where the subject is villainous.

Scarface, Fight Club, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad...it never changes.

I'll never call them bad movies. (In fact I almost never call a movie or a show terrible, I'm just not that guy, especially after making a serious attempt at writing something).

In fact I'm sure they're great movies, they must be if they have so many die-hard fans (lol)

Just saying personally I can't see why others like them so much. I'm the same with sports and dogs.

Supposedly, they purposely kept certain phrases and the word "mafia" out of the script of the first movie in an attempt to avoid angering the actual Mafia.
You should watch Morbius and try to hold to that honorable stance.
I'm gonna morb.

Provided it's not Morbius. Watch that on your own. :link
That is one that I haven't seen, but at the same time I have little interest in battering my penis with a well weathered rock, so I might just skip it.

Leto is generally icky feeling, anyway.

I watched morbius after I had watched madam web and morbius was sooo much worse than madam web
I was mildly entertained by Madam Web, and that movie was also awful. I will watch Kraven, but I'm not hearing great things.

Supposedly it's poor reception was the prime reason for the death of the Sonyverse.

I’ll watch it, but I’m not paying extra to watch it, just like the other two

Supposedly its poor reception was the prime reason for the death of the Sonyverse.
Then it served its purpose

I still don't really get why they're all being weird and casting characters who were other characters. I guess that's kind of a thing in the comics, and technically between Marvel and Sony there's a difference, but still... I'm still going to see Quicksilver when I look at Kraven.

Or Tangerine. I really enjoyed his role in Bullet Train.

Technically, Aaron Taylor Johnson's role within Marvel is not affected by his role with Sony. He's dead in the MCU anyway. But your sentiment is shared. Though I'm quite partial to Evan Peters myself as far as Quicksilvers are concerned.

Bullet Train was a great movie. Highly enjoyable.

I found a Marvel Snap deck that's made up of characters that were all played by actors who have played multiple characters. Didn't realize how many there were:

One character has had two actors from this same deck (Human Torch shares an actor with both Killmonger and Captain America), and one actor has played three of the characters (Oscar Isaac played Moon Knight, Spider-Man 2099, and Apocalypse)

The deck sucks but it's funny.

Honestly putting Taylor-Johnson's characters in there might improve it. Kraven works great with the spiders and Torch...

I've seen it multiple times just because I can usually talk people into watching Die Hard instead of some random Christmas movie.

I'll play this game if I haven't signed up yet.
