TV Shows Wheel of Time tv show

I get what you mean. I do like Asmodeon and Masema so it would suck to not see those characters, but I get it. They’re condensing 14 phone books into 8 television seasons with 8 episodes apiece, and the source material quite literally had over one thousand named characters. So as long as the mergers make sense, I’m on board with it.

One rumor I heard is that they’re going to give Elaida’s role to Liandrin, which does sort of make sense, they’re both very unlikable Red Ajah, but there’s just one character difference between them that makes me think it’s a problematic merger if it’s true.
Talking about Liandrin being darkfriend and Elaida is just arrogant and incompetent.

Hey look, I figured out spoilers!! TD you in particular shouldn’t click it because you haven’t read the books and it’s a doozy of a spoiler if they do it for the show.
Masema - yay.
Prophet of the Dragon Reborn - boo!
We could have been spared one of my least favourite plots if the writers had zagged left instead of right.

Asmodean leads in to one of the best mysteries the books had. I’d be upset to lose that mystery but I don’t want to see Asmodean and Logain merged. Partly for that reason.

Trying to keep things vague.

It was? I must have missed that part.

In that case I’m not sure what mystery bandicoot is talking about.
Probably that mystery
it was something off-hand like saying she was responsible for the deaths of ____ many chosen, so the only way the math added up was if she killed him too

I’ve only watched the first episode of season 2 so far… is moiraine actually stilled? I thought she was just heavily shielded
I would assume that she is stilled, but I guess they never did clarify on that.

And don’t feel bad, I’m not even halfway through the second episode yet. It’s frustrating because whenever we try to watch it, all the kids need something and are a constant distraction, and then after we get them to bed and asleep we are too tired.

I've watched all three episodes of the second season, I have never read the books and barely understand the lore but I enjoy the show. Didn't know before starting the season that Mat's actor had to be swapped so that threw me at first.

I'm enjoying this season so far, certainly the end of episode three has me wanting to watch episode 4 as soon as I finish work Friday

The finale was easily my favourite episode.
It was good and I’m looking forward to more Matt. I warned my wife that I suspected
hopper to die this episode
and correctly warned her when it was about to happen.

Had season 1 been like this season, there would have been a lot less backlash. The season was better written, better CGI, better settings, and better paced.

That scene was so sad and triggering to me.

Well I just finished episode 5 and it's really doing a good job capturing the essence of the books while being different. I like it.

Verin and moraine are the stand outs but nynaeve's trip through the arches was brutal.
Yeah the arches story was beyond brutal. Man.

There were so many emotions this season.

Finally finished watching it! Had to wait because I got my wife into the show too and we have to watch it outside her other shows and also when the kids aren’t around.

There were a few minor things I was disappointed about with the finale, but other than that I think the show is amazing and I can’t wait to see what they do with it next!

Just out of curiosity - is this because of what you hoped for as a book reader or overall?

As a non book reader it was by far my favourite episode.

It follows the book close enough that I feel like they’re trying to make a good adaptation to television as a story-telling medium. And I like the costumes and the actors.

And if anything, I’m actually looking forward to seeing how well they condense because honestly, most book fans won’t admit just how bloated the source material is. Fourteen novels the size of phone books and a lot of it is descriptions of peoples clothings, culture customs, B-story arcs that even diehard fans admit to skipping on rereads, and even long plots involving the WEATHER. So I’m kind of curious to see if the story can be improved on by doing it in only eight seasons with eight episodes each.

In hindsight, I think I haven’t really answered this question.

I guess it’s sort of both? The first thing was the Heroes of the Horn. I thought they looked awesome on screen and loved watching them fight, but I kind of expected there to be more of them. A few hundred at least, but we only got a small group of them.

The second thing was Rand’s fight with Ishamael, and Moraine’s summoning a dragon. It was okay for the show, but a lot less epic than how it went down in the books. I won’t go into detail about it though in case anyone hasn’t read the books yet but is planning to.

But like I said, I view them as disappointments I can live with and feel the show as a whole was awesome.

I have all the books in my backlog. I'll get to them eventually.

So I'm not a book reader, but I have to admit I was disappointed with the scale of both of these events when it came to watching the show. I had heard that both would be fairly epic and while it was still quite good TV I was left wanting more.

This is why I don't read spoilers beforehand lol. I had no idea it was supposed to be more epic than what was shown.

Yeah it was unavoidable for me, my brother has read the books and said that there would be some really cool stuff coming.
At the end of the season I asked, did they not put it in. Still, a very enjoyable show

Buuuuuuump! Season 3 is almost over, anyone still watching?

I thought the first season was a bit CW but the second got better and holy crap is season 3 good. I don't care that they are streamlining it and not including characters and storyline that ultimately aren't needed. The main vibe and direction of the show is superb. All the actors owned their characters. I think all of them have hot exactly as I pictured when reading. Rand has been understated but phenomenal. Perrin and Faile are dead on to the books. Egwene and Elayne ate growing into their roles. Moraine was there from the start. Mat has been better this season. I was not a fan of Lan's casting at first but now I am totally on board. The aiel are exactly as I thought they would be.

Every episode has been fantastic to me this season. They give the actors time to build their characters, the action hits hard but they don't rush it. The forsaken are well characterized, but I'd like to see more of them outside of Lanfear. Moghedien is creepy as hell and I love when she is on screen.

I'm looking forward to the finale next week but I wish the seasons were 10-12 episodes. There is just so much context to cover, but I think they are doing a good job.

We haven't started watching this season yet because my wife is taking a class and has lots of homework at night. We're planning on watching once the semester is over.
So far, it is a big improvement on the first two seasons. And the first episode hookes you in right away.

Season 3 is much better than season 2

I’m only through 7 episodes, i think that’s up to date

Love Faile and Perrin, but hate Faile’s accent

I’m missing Gaul, but they did a good job replacing him with Bain and Chiad

I don’t like how they theoretically killed off Loial. He doesn’t do much for the plot, but as a character he deserved better.

Disappointed in Amazon for not booking multiple seasons at a time. It meant that the actors that played Thom and Tam were not available and had significantly reduced roles in seasons 2 and 3 respectively

regarding your spoiler, I don’t think it’s theoretical. Nothing is REQUIRED for plot progression and I mean, looked pretty definite. Plus there’s been one fake out there already.

Can’t wait for Thursday. The trailer hints at something they’ve been setting up all season. Plus we get to see Rands plot and the Tanchico plot to go places.

You mentioned Tam. Due to his absence this season, we might not see the character now until Rand’s epiphany. That could be season 7 or 8….

I’m glad we got this far and I really hope Amazon do renew it. They shot half of season two before the first aired, so season 3 has been the first chance they’ve had to react to audience feedback. And it wasn’t u til the third season that game of thrones went nuts because of the red wedding. I’m hoping the THING happens and it elevates the show because of it.

Can really REALLY do with working on the length of that between-season gap through. Like, a matter of urgency.

but hate Faile’s accent

I think it's awesome that there are so many accents in the show because she is the first person we have see from Saldea I think, you'd expect them to have regional accents.

I agree with your spoiler, however my brother and I who both read the books and are loving the show have accepted that there have been changes to either add emotion or create drama and we are ultimately okay with that. I hope it's not a fake out... but I would really love that not to be the ending of that story. As long as the main narrative and most of the main points and characters are held true, deviations are accepted due to the medium and volume of content.

Also regarding Alanna
should we make bets on if she is nearly fatally stabbed for the third straight episode? Any takers?

So far, it seems like they've basically skipped over the events of book 3. But as far as I can remember the only significant thing to have happened in that book was Rand wielding Callandor for the first time (and how very disappointing it is to not get to see that yet), but that could easily be put off to a later time since he only used it briefly anyway and then put it right back and left it there for several books.

They are skipping that until later, because as you said, it means nothing other than identifying him as the dragon
