I wanted to be a lawyer, so I could get rich arguing. A teacher told me I would never be able to do it, because it involved so much studying and homework, which I admittedly never did either of.

It was a shitty thing to say to a kid, but she wasn't wrong, and I'm sooo glad I went into software development instead.

Always wanted to own my own store. Preferably a comic/gaming shop.

Serious answer:
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a zookeeper, and later a paleontologist.

Then I drifted around listless until my early twenties, at which point I wanted to be an astronaut. By then I knew it was already too late, but I was really into space shit at that time.

I was smoking a lot of drugs.

I never had a dream job growing up, but by the time I was 14-15 I just wanted to be a computer programmer. Then at 18 I went to university to do just that and realised it probably wasn't for me. I'm 32 now and really wish I'd stuck it out if I'm honest, but I think the time has passed on that.

I told my sixth grade guidance counselor that I wanted to be an energy engineer...I've worked in cleantech for energy since graduating college.

Some weird test I took in High School that told us all what we'd be good at told me I should be an astronaut. So there's that.
