How does one come to this conclusion?
I used to have a more thought out explanation, but bullet points will have to do

  • Takes place at Christmas time
  • There is an actual Christmas party going on
  • There is Christmas music olsyed
  • His wife’s name is Holly, a Christmas-type name
  • There is a Santa costume
  • Someone says “ho ho ho”
  • John McClane tries to better himself by flying out to Holly
  • The man going for greed, Hans, loses to the man trying to protect his family

This is a constant argument in my family and I'm glad to see we are on the same side with a lot of the same arguments made.

Die Hard -- 100%. Puts you in the holiday spirit every year!

Top 10...

1.) It's a Wonderful Life (sorry, but...it's the standard)
2.) Elf
3.) Home Alone
4.) Bad Santa
5.) A Christmas Story
6.) Die Hard
7.) Trading Places (I'm calling it a Christmas movie, I'll leave it up to you to disqualify it or not)
8.) The Santa Clause
9.) Polar Express
10.) The Nightmare Before Christmas

...honourable mention to Gremlins? Again, is it, isn't it?

I don't watch a ton of Xmas movies.. I almost feel like I actively avoid them really so here's mine:

1) The Holiday
2) Home Alone (both 1 and 2)
3) Jim Carrey's Grinch
4) Elf
5) That Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special

I did just watch Love at First Sight and really enjoyed it and the setting is Xmas-adjacent So maybe that's on my list...

Almost every Shane Black movie is a Christmas movie.

1. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (this is my #1 favorite movie PERIOD regardless of holidays)
2. Lethal Weapon
3. The Nice Guys (MORE PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THIS)
4. The Last Boy Scout
5. The Long Kiss Goodnight
6. Iron Man 3

All these movies are bangers and they're all Christmas movies by the Die Hard Rule

My issue with this list is that IM3 is a meh movie

Die Hard
Christmas Vacation
Lethal Weapon
Bad Santa
Violent Night
Home Alone 1 and 2

thats it

A Christmas Story sucks, there I said it

@VashTheStampede

Love the Lethal Weapon love!

Didnt remember Nice Guys happening at Christmas, but I'll take your word for it
Ok Nice Guys was a stretch because the epilogue took place at Christmas, but if we ever get a freaking sequel, it's a very important scene.

It's a Wonderful Life
Muppet Christmas Carol
Polar Express
The Grinch (2000)
Die Hard
Assault on Precinct 13 (2005) (New Years)
Home Alone 2 (Just skip the opening scenes until he gets to the airport)
A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas (shame the 3D version never got a physical release)
The Man Who Invented Christmas
A Christmas Carol (George A Scott version)

Holy fuck I'm so happy you said that Kelly. I was like looking at these lists like what was my childhood and why was it so different?
I remember those movies taking FOREVER to finish as a kid.

Watched the Little Drummer Boy for the first time in over two decades this last holiday. It's only 30 mins lolz. It's genuinely not that bad but holy shit the voice acting is awful.
