Fuckin' high school mangas, statues, lore books, tabletops, throwaway gag videos - they'll do absolutely everything with that budget except add meaningful content to the game.

Not going to watch it (after AC6, no, I have not learned my lesson! ), but agreed. The announcement trailer caught my interest far more than anything I had seen from the likes of FFXVI, and I've had the X360 and Xbone versions of the original shortlisted for a while now.

Depending on how that goes, I might be strongly tempted to ease my "No $70 games, ever" stance.

I was obsessed with the first one so if I have the money it's an easy day 1 buy for me. Big if on that though cause life and gaming ain't a cheap hobby.

I didn't watch the whole thing but skimmed it.

I've already seen enough to know I'll love it.

2023 added quite a few games to my list. It looks like that "a couple years in to the new gen" theory is picking up.

And that should be just about everything of note? Not having a, like, central stage or streaming platform (plus I'm sure the backstage, no camera "mega show" stuff still exists) doesn't really do this event any favors.

The little showcase reminds me a lot of Phantasy Star, particularly Online 2 but I think a more technically savvy Universe would also be apt, so I'm curious on a base level. Haven't, of course, even touched Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail so that's just an aesthetic observation thing.
