Howdy! Welcome back to hell, where we play games on Xbox (and PC, etc.) to earn achievements. If and/or when we earn them all, we add the game to our lists here and compete to see who the biggest glutton for punishment is. Sounds a-mazing, right?!

If you want to join in the fun, just drop your GamerTag in the thread and I'll see about getting you sorted out. Then, once you're added, simply come back and let us know when you've acquired a new completed game. Consider leaving a comment telling us wether you liked the game and/or its achievement list while you're at it!

Our "leaderboard." Last updated 04/20/2024.

#133 - SoulCalibur V
This is without question the game with the worst AI I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. In certain modes and difficulty settings, many of which are required for achievements, the AI will have dramatically increased speed, increased power, blatantly read your inputs, ignore all mechanics (Guard Burst/break, Stun), make impossible Ring Outs, and sometimes if it's feeling extra frisky it'll also just straight up no sale your attacks. No damage, no pausing, just punishment.

I absolutely adore(d) SoulCalibur II back in the day, so this breaks my heart. Also made me swear off the entire genre going forward because my word did my blood boil. 😂

My reaction time is too slow for Soul Calibur anymore. There's too much reliance on counters and parries and I was never able to do those in the first place. If I can't go full attack mode or be able to tell when I can interrupt an enemy's attack with one of my own, I'm not going to be able to anything.

Also, the real Xbox achievement is getting an original Xbox to work after the clock capacitor destroys the motherboard.

Yeah, I've just accepted the fact that my OG is dead. When I first heard about the clock capacitor leakage issue a couple years back, it was off in a storage facility anyway. And now, because I'm sure it's already too late anyway, I can't be bothered to dig it out of the garage. Thankfully most of the games I have are backwards compatible, but still RIP to the ol' clunker.

As for SoulCalibur, I'm in much the same boat. Though I'm also just kind of annoyed, independent of bad AI, how little in the way of defensive options there are anyway. Like there isn't really anything the game/series offers for attempting to break combos, there's absolutely no such thing as blocking in the air, and it feels really clunky trying to strafe. I've always been more partial to 2D fighters than 3D, but playing some ArcSys games between SC2 and SC4 (and especially here, 11 years after SC5 released)... I can't do it. I can't go back.

I would struggle. There’s about 100-100 at full percent. One (project spark) doesn’t count because I’m one achievement off, but it’s impossible now, and the gamerscore was so high that the one ten gs achievement wasn’t enough to stop it ticking to 100%

Beyond that, games with 100% not including dlc would be really hard to find.

Heyo, Bandicoot! No worries on tracking them down, I'll handle that. Once I actually sit still and finish working out how tables work for XenForo. Which isn't right this second because now it's time for dinner where did my entire day just go.

Your job is to not have more than 133 completions. I want to be on top for once! to check in every so often and let us know what good - or bad, probably bad - experiences you've had with achievements recently! :)

Ta-da~ Some of these look like right pains in the damn ass. And that Project Spark one was just plain bullshit.

Base Game completions:
Assassin's Creed III
Mass Effect
Minecraft: Xbox One Edition

Near-completions:
Dead Rising 3 - 1 Base Game achievement (Prestige Hound)
Fable III - 1 Base Game achievement (Crime Spree)
Project Spark - 1 discontinued Base Game achievement (Rising Star)
Assassin's Creed: Revelations - 2 Base Game achievements (Fond Memories, Tax Evasion)
Tropico 4 - 2 Base Game achievements (Curse of the Llama, Expert)
Quantum Conundrum - 2 Base Game achievements (In less than 12 Parsecs, Honor Student)
Crimson Dragon - 3 Base Game achievements (Roger That!, Overachiever, Seeker General)
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition - 4 Base Game achievements
Minecraft - 4 Base Game achievements
Sunset Overdrive - 4 Base Game achievements

Once you figure out the tables, you'll have to show me how to do it so I can start the Playstation Platinum club thread!

In the meantime, I'll take credit for my work from years ago and put myself at 41 completions on Xbox, according to TrueAchievements.
Yup, will do! Got a thread over in Chit-Chat that I'm poking on and off with. The table code for this type of forum software is a bit more restrictive and not at all pretty, but we can spin up some basic stuff pretty quickly.

Great work. You can tell that you and I were racing at one point by the 70 game drop between 2nd and 3rd. Lol.

Had a look through my list and I see 110 games at 100% (not including project spark or any base 100%s without available dlc). It’s the ones with base but not dlc that I say might bump me higher but I don’t know what they might be.

I'll work on this some more over the weekend. Don't wanna kill too much time with aesthetics, but, there's gotta be a way to sort and list 100+ games that I actually like and isn't an editing nightmare.

Tell you another one I should’ve, but actually will never 100% - The Stanley Parable. There is an achievement for playing the game after not playing it for ten years.
Oh yeah, I hate those kinds of achievements. Batman: Arkham City and NieR (/NieR Replicant) immediately come to mind for games where messing with the console clock is the vastly superior/only way.

It's much more of a pain in the ass on the Xbone and S|X than it was on the X360 too, if memory serves. Still, would probably take less than ten minutes to pop. DO EET! *finger wiggle*

#134 - Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game (360)
A fun enough little beat 'em up. Not sure I like leveling up and vague RPG mechanics in these sorts of games; as with something like Castle Crasher, it feels okay-ish the first character and time you play. But after that, it's just awful not having basic attacks/abilities. Thankfully you can immediately break the game once you reach the second part of Stage 1, The Shopping District, and so that's what I did. Lv16 with 100 in every stat makes it feel a little more like it probably should, though obviously far too easy in the first handful of stages at minimum.

I assume most or all of my relatively minor gripes would be resolved if I was playing with 1-3 other people. Alas, 'twas not meant to be aside from me and the partner getting the online achievements knocked out. (And thank fuck I managed to nab the Wallace DLC in the short span that was actually available.)

Preemptively putting this one in the thread too, but it won't be done until after the weekend most likely unless I get super motivated/not distracted:

#136 - Condemned 2: Bloodshot (X360)
First achievement: Brick Wall - 1/19/2010
Last achievement: Detective First Grade - 7/23/2023

Gonna tell you everything you need to know right there, honestly. 😂

Took care of all the horrible tacked-on online ones more than a decade ago, tried the single player for like an hour and immediately put it down. Everything about the game irks me; it's a first-person brawler first and foremost, and it's somehow worse at it than the first game. You basically die in 3 or 4 hits from anything, even small enemies, and said small enemies are extraordinarily agile and quite enjoy spawning in behind you. Bloodshot also likes to constantly fuck with the screen. You've got strobe lights, distortion filters, wobbly camera (because your character is an alcoholic), and any time you're using a gun - unless you get a little drunk - you literally can't aim for shit.

I legit just TL;DR'd the story but it's full of supernatural nonsense anyway, so I'm sure if I had spent the ~30 minutes listening I would've just made fun of it. Good riddance!

Put the game down for about 2 months to focus on work/life/other game chores. Came back, took out the remaining 44-ish S-Ranks, still really super dislike the game. But it's done and dusted now. Add "Why are mission parameters not visible in-game" to the extensive list of complaints, though. Yay for people being stat nerds and doing the developer's work for them:

it’s complicated. That involves going offline and there are Home Console shenanigans going on 🤔

I got a couple of close 100%s but I’m not sure I’ll complete Broforce on iron bro difficulty, and also not sure on diablo4 hardcore level 50. If/when I clear the others (I’m looking at you, Uber Lilith), I might try.

Ah yes, I understand completely.

I haven't heard anything about the Family Plan in an eternity, but we would be all over some sort of bundle/group offering to make digital licenses (and subscription...) less of a pain in the ass. We're definitely not purchasing multiple copies of the same game (unless you need 3+ accounts for dumb achievements lol)!

Managed the equivalent (and then some) of the PS Platinum in, I don't know, about 30 hours across 4 1/2 days. Not awful.

Awful is what comes next. All fucking downhill from here (after catching the PS5 version up a little!).
