I'm pretty sure someone here has played both LoZ games.

I'm trying to figure out if I should just finish BotW and move on to TotK or keep exploring BotW. I've completed all of the shrines. And outside of scouring the world for Korok seeds and mini-bosses to fight, I'm feeling like there isn't much less to discover. Treasure chests don't really have much of an impact as many are just out in the open and the ones that require effort in finding don't really give a decent enough reward. Many are just rupees, stones that I can just mine a lot of (except for diamonds), and weapons that will just break. Treasure chests not respawning after you take the item and weapons breaking kinda makes the chests less fun to come across.

Does TotK improve the exploration factor of BotW? I know there's MORE to explore due to there being three different levels of Hyrule (land, sky, underworld), but are the rewards for exploring better than just shrines, korok seeds, and chests filled with temporary items?

Or should I hack my Wii U and find a way to download the DLC for BotW...

TotK is definitely more fun to explore, as certain areas will have chests with gear pieces. You also have all the same/similar collectables as BotW, so you still have that. I did enjoy that aspect more in TotK.

That's good to know. I looked it up to see what other people thought, and I see a LOT of conflicting answers with a lot people on the negative side saying that TotK making exploration less enjoyable because of the ways you can skip around the map. In BotW, outside of early horse usage to more quickly get to the three Hyrule towns and using shrines to get to objectives faster (or if I'm trying to get to specific regions or hgher locations to glide from) I mostly hoofed it everywhere, which is not usually something I do in games like Fallout where once I unlocked the fast travel point, I rarely explored much further around, only following quest markers.

I mean yeah. You can easily botch a lot of the TotK exploration by making some very convenient contraptions. Some stuff becomes very trivial at that point. But if you ignore finding those builds and focus on doing stuff the way you want and imagine, it's a lot better.

You get enough fast travel spots everywhere. At some point you will want to go and focus just getting all of them just to make life easier, but that wont be too early on.

As for Warriors, idk. I loved the idea of Warriors games, and +1 for Zelda themed ones, but somehow I never bought one. I did like watching folks play them. Either game is fine in their own rights.

The building was something that seemed out of place for a Zelda game and I'm not really creative enough to take advantage of it. I almost never use creative movement and combat techniques I see used in BotW YT videos.
You really don't ever need to unless a puzzle requires you to. Just makes things more convenient in other situations. Though you can do a lot of different penises

I liked BotW but I found the exploration to be a bit lackluster. The exploration in TotK is much better. Every cave has a limited collectable that can be exchanged for different gear and such, and there are gear pieces, treasure maps, and other upgrades scattered throughout the land in much larger quantities than in BotW. You're not the type to 100%, so if you've completed all shrines and beat the game, I say move on. But you probably want to give a bit of time between the two games because they're so similar.

Personally I find having lots of ways to quickly traverse the map makes exploration more fun for me, not less. If there's a big chunk of area I haven't explored and I have no easy way to get near it, it'll probably stay unexplored for me unless the game forces the issue. If I can quickly get to every little spot I've missed, then I'll probably do so.

I haven't played TotK, but it may be worth thinking about your personal preferences there, and whether those complaints would even apply to you.
