Well, at the recommendation of @Hefty88 and @Smacktard respectively, my girl and I played “It Takes Two” and then “A Way Out”.

Prior to that, we’ve played through the Little Big Planet series, and have a few of the Lego games downloaded on the PS4. We haven’t made the jump to PS5 yet because we simply don’t have the time to play like that to rationalize the expense and there aren’t that many exclusives out for the system yet that piqued our interest.

We regularly play The Show together, going inning for inning, and we also play Madden in a similar fashion with the quarters. We’ve also played games like the Life is Strange series, where we’ve basically taken turn on the controller and worked together to figure out the game.

With that said… y’all have any other recommendations for a couple to play together? We really like co-op games, she’s gotten a lot better at controlling the analog sticks over the last couple we played, so I’m confident that she’s ready to play some stuff that’s more in-depth than the titles I’ve listed, but I’m not trying to overload her with controls either. For what it’s worth… she’s great with third person controls, but first person fucks her up every single time.

Since you like LittleBigPlanet - Sackboy is worth checking out.

Cuphead is co op too, it's fun BUT might be too much of a challenge.

Untitled Goose Game is fun and simple if you like puzzle type games.

The Overcooked games and Moving Out games are good simple fun. Can be hectic in a good way.

Rayman Legends is a platformer that I've had a blast playing co op.

Pretty sure I have this one downloaded if it’s the one I’m thinking of… it was described to me as more of an RPG than platformer.

I’m definitely not opposed to challenging her skills, that’s how she has gotten better. The problem is finding stuff entertaining enough to keep her interest while she’s learning, and from what I’ve heard about that… it might be something she’d like.

Untitled Goose Game is fun and simple if you like puzzle type games.

She thought the trailer for that was hilarious, I showed her that when I showed her gameplay of Goat Simulator. Good call.

The Overcooked games and Moving Out games are good simple fun. Can be hectic in a good way.

That’s right up her alley. She loves those kinda games, and plays similar with her daughter.

Rayman Legends is a platformer that I've had a blast playing co op.

This is one I didn’t even consider. Good idea.

Thanks for the suggestions, dude. I appreciate it.

No problem!

Sackboy definitely is not an RPG. It follows a very similar formula to LittleBigPlanet but it's top down. There is some cut scenes for story but that's all that I can think of that may be RPG.

Speaking of Goat Simulator, haven't played it yet but Goat Simulator 3 is co op.

The Ninja Turtles- Shredders Revenge is co op but don't know if that would be her thing.

If you have PS Plus Extra or higher, I think they actually have a "couch co op" category too.

Maybe I’m remembering incorrectly, but I was told something down the lines of “it’s not like the others” and it’s more about “Sackboy’s story” or something to that effect that could have made me come to that conclusion.

I got a “let’s do it” from her as soon as I read off this suggestion.

The Ninja Turtles- Shredders Revenge is co op but don't know if that would be her thing.

She grew up on the Turtles, that would absolutely be her thing. Fuck it if it’s too difficult, she gon’ learn!

I do not, but I have access to two people’s accounts who do, and both would add games to the library if I asked nicely.

Both of those statements are accurate. There's no user created content in this one. But it's very loosely story oriented, like it's there but the focus is the gameplay.

That's good - I believe that aside from Cuphead and Goat Simulator 3, the rest of those are in the catalog.

Mark, I think our girls are the same when it comes to games. Cuphead was too difficult for my girl, but she is liking Shredder's Revenge. There's also the Cowabunga collection for Turtles in Time of she really likes Shredder's Revenge.

Snipperclips is an excellent co-op game too. We would play it together when we first started dating. It might be Switch only though.

That won’t hurt my feelings, I didn’t like the fact that it kept trying to force the online connectivity on me during the last game I played in the series… so no user content means no need to bother me with connecting.

Sweet, I’ll get on it next time I have a minute to browse the catalog. That’ll be a morning coffee or toilet time task.

My condolences, bro.

…I’d still likely try Cuphead if for no other reason than to push her buttons.

We don’t have a Switch, but it’s interesting to hear that they have co-op games or even single player games that can be played as “pass the controller” types.
