Robocop remake was actually decent.Who would have thought that this movie would have hit so close to accurately depicting now all the way back in 1987? I sure as hell didn’t because I was 1, but that’s besides the point. One of my favorite movies as a kid. I wish they gave the second and third movies the work they needed, because there was so much potential after the first one.
The remake? Haven’t seen it. Don’t wanna.
Robocop remake was actually decent.
reminder that John Carpenter's The Thing was a remake. So was The Mummy with Brendan Fraiser.I’m gonna trust you on this and put it on the list… I’ve been REAL reluctant to try reboots.

Robocop may not be up to the standard that some people expect, and it loses the satire nature of the original in favor of a more action oriented take, but if you remove the original from your thought process, it can be an entertaining movie. Plus, it has an amazing cast. Michael Keaton, Samuel L Jackson, and Gary Oldman all have parts in the film.
Just don't watch the Total Recall or Red Dawn remakes. I didn't see the Point Break remake, so I have no opinion of that.
Robocop remake was actually decent.
I absolutely fell in love with this movie when I was a little boy. I love Peter Weller as Robocop. Loved the suit design and the plot. It's too bad that Peter never reprised his role for any new movies or that they could never get any good screen writers after the second one.
I have to respectfully disagree. The remake was a fucking joke when held up to the original.Robocop remake was actually decent.
There were several of them, including a few Robocop VS. Terminator ones. I remember one with a construction site level early on, I think.I think I actually played an arcade game of Robocop that... may have been loosely related to the movie? I did end up eventually seeing the movie too and remember liking it. This was somewhere midteens though so I can't remember much of what happened beyond fighting against his prime directive or what it was called in the movie.
Ohh, I remember a construction site. And a lot of bikers swooping in and outta of the screen. And sadly I think dogs too. :/There were several of them, including a few Robocop VS. Terminator ones. I remember one with a construction site level early on, I think.
Sounds right.Ohh, I remember a construction site. And a lot of bikers swooping in and outta of the screen. And sadly I think dogs too. :/
Yeah... I remember that hall way too. Never liked it. And let's not even start with Cujo.Sounds right.
There definitely wasn't an aversion to putting animals in old video games. But I'm still traumatized by Resident Evil and that hallway a little off the main lobby, with all the windows, so fuck dogs in general.
Oh. Well I just let my kids watch John Wick with me a couple months ago but I was a super-moderator so I think it was super okay.I loved Robocop as a kid. I don't remember exactly when my parents let me watch it, but they were fucking stupid so it was probably around 5-6. They were me watch Aliens at 2, and Silver Bullet at 6 or so. Not great moderators.
While I've still never seen any of the John Wick movies, I'd think they're relatively sanitary compared to watching a cop get blown apart piece by piece by shotguns.Oh. Well I just let my kids watch John Wick with me a couple months ago but I was a super-moderator so I think it was super okay.
Oh yeah it's WAY more tame than the Murphy death scene. Or the ED-209 scene. Or like half of the commercials. While I've still never seen any of the John Wick movies, I'd think they're relatively sanitary compared to watching a cop get blown apart piece by piece by shotguns.
There's your problem, you're comparing it to the original and completely disregarded it because it's not the same movie. You need to separate the films from each other.I have to respectfully disagree. The remake was a fucking joke when held up to the original.
Real Robo looks believable, down to the skin of his face being stretched over The 'skull' when he takes the helmet off. You could believe Peter Weller was a robot in that, as he played it so well.
The remake? It just looks like a guy in a freaking tactical suit with a motorbike helmet. They even found a stupid reason to keep the actors hands out of the suit sieeves, so it's "a human hand pulling the trigger". But it doesn't look good or stick to the character.
The action might have been alright, but it wasn't a good Robocop movie in my option.
Sure, my standards are set high knowing the original, but even then... It felt more like it was trying to be Judge Dredd than Robocop. Robo is not supposed to be a an actual cyborg to that degree, and it undercuts the corporatate coldness the story is supposed to convey. OCP doesn't give a fuck about saving his human arm, they get rid of it.There's your problem, you're comparing it to the original and completely disregarded it because it's not the same movie.
