Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul: Take Two

I would have loved to see a 27 year old Tyson against a 27 year old Paul.

I can't say I'm impressed with Paul. Like at all. Yeah his left jab is quick... but that was it. Maybe it was Tyson and maybe it was Paul backing off some, but he carried his hands so low a younger Tyson would have knocked him out within seconds.

I can't see Paul facing anyone legitimate. I think he dies if he does.

For all the training Paul has access to, I wasn’t too impressed with his form or his accuracy. His arrogance is also going to get him hurt. I’m very surprised it didn’t happen tonight.

there is no way Paul didn't win that fight. Mike looked totally outmatched.

Which is saying something, because Paul was sloppy as hell. Aside from the obvious agility/balance issues, Mike ended up opening himself up to too many shots with that glove-biting tick he still has, and he did it more in that fight than any of the others I’ve seen with him.

I take it nobody won then?
Paul won in a judge's decision.

But this should have been headlined by Serrano/Taylor. That fight was amazing.

Mike said after he was dealing with an injury. Which likely occurred in the third when he was staggered. He was not moving right after that.

Absolutely, and the Barrios/Ramos fight was worth it also.

Considering he has injuries older than Paul, that doesn’t surprise me in the least… all it could take is a body shot to a previously cracked rib or a good hit to a previously hairline fractured cheekbone or orbital to set things off. You don’t go as many fights as Tyson has without picking up some damage along the way.

I will watch the next boxing match Paul is in with a REAL boxer in his prime. Other than that, I'm done with him fighting old and out of class amateurs.

He's not good at boxing and last night proved that to me.

He really should just take his 7 figure drawers and his dumbass entrance on over to the WWE if he wants to be all about showmanship like that. The contrast of his entrance and Mike’s said it all.

I didn't until they showed it in the prematch talks between the female match and theirs.

It’s instances like that that make me question if I’m getting old… I was never really on top of all pop culture, but, I knew enough to get by. Nowadays, I hear about this singer, that actor, or that athlete and I’m like… “who?”

Same way. I used to know every baseball player in the majors down to AA. Same with hockey. Now I'm lucky to know the main roster for one team.

I was talking to a buddy of mine about something similar, and we landed on an interesting theory… there’s a faster turnaround for celebrity status than when we were kids. We had guys that went on to become legends, and now… it’s all flash in the pan stuff and onto the next big ticket person.
