I get that. I've had friendships that I had to drop after years because I realized they were shitty friends. Most recent was last year, with a friend I've had since grade 4.

It takes some time to get over these things, but you're better off not having people in your life who drag you down, or dictate to you how they think YOU should live YOUR life, denying your true self.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that, too, it's definitely not fun. Left me with pretty much no one irl now, which is fine since I'm very much an introvert, so...whatever. But you're right, better than having them tell you who you are, or who you aren't.
