Everyone stop what you're doing! It's happening! GW's own Alu is having a baby!! Come and congratulate him here: Need some help identifying this picture.
We're so happy for you, Alu!Make a rule about no phones/tablets during movie time. One thing that makes me sad is thinking that I would dearly love to be able to sit the kids down and watch the full Lord of the rings trilogy with them someday, but I doubt any of them will have the attention span or even any interest at all. I imagine looking up at one of the good parts and seeing them absorbed in their tablet or something.
I did the full LotR set with my oldest a couple of months ago, it was real nice. He was 16 at the time and into stuff like LotR. So it was a cool experience to share! One thing that makes me sad is thinking that I would dearly love to be able to sit the kids down and watch the full Lord of the rings trilogy with them someday, but I doubt any of them will have the attention span or even any interest at all. Well fuck why didn't I think of that one beforeMake a rule about no phones/tablets during movie time

Now anytime I have some kind of scar or blemish, anyone who knows me is like "which one of the boys did this?" (Referring to my boy cats)
Oh I totally agree. We had a weekly competition for most items scanned per hour, with the only prize being your name on a ranking board, and I lived for that shit. There was no punishment for not making a certain quota though, and people who didn't like to compete simply didn't.I could see collecting that data possibly being useful if done in a more positive way, a carrot instead of a stick. Like a good-spirited competition if workers wanted to try to out compete each other and possibly incentivizing and praising good performers. Not "you're not working fast enough, other people are out-performing you."
Ahahaha, as a firstborn child, I can confirm this.
Heh, relatable. I, too, have had people assume my wounds had been inflicted by my cat when she was completely innocent (that time). Now anytime I have some kind of scar or blemish, anyone who knows me is like "which one of the boys did this?" (Referring to my boy cats)
I do have to be like "no, no, this was entirely not cat related believe it or not"
I definitely don't want to force it on them and make it feel like a chore with them being all resentful. What would be the point?Make a rule about no phones/tablets during movie time.
Or start with similar but much shorter movies with bright colors and lots of energy.
I don't know how much I'd enjoy the Lord of the Rings as a kid. There's a lot of really boring stuff, especially in The Two Towers (fucking ents...)
I think my oldest might have watched it with me years ago, can't remember well enough to be sure. The three young ones almost surely won't though, and the oldest has since changed where she would probably tune out too if I had her rewatch it with me.I did the full LotR set with my oldest a couple of months ago, it was real nice. ...damnit, now I'm playing for the wrong team again, as I spend all of my time thinking about the elvish word for friends...
