We were still in elementary school and I think my mom wanted us to watch "educational" content. The only reason we even got to watch anything before Underdog came on was because she arrive home yet.

When we were teens, we got to watch DragonBall, Sailor Moon, and others that were on Cartoon Network. We even got to watch movies like Titanic (with the nudity), The Matrix, and even Event Horizon.

Lol the Aeris one. I remember when FF7 first came out and my brothers and I were begging our mom to let us get a playstation and FF7 so we can play it, and she was on the fence about getting it and asked if it was really violent and we were like no, it's just people fighting monsters and stuff. She took a strategy guide off the shelf and just happened to flip right to that one specific part of the game and said "look, there's a woman with a sword through her!" 😂

Somehow we still managed to convince her anyway. Or we pestered her enough until she caved.

You would never guess it about me (although maybe you would?), but I come from a family of 8 kids. And of all ten of those nuclear family members, 9 of them are extreme prudes. Like I have to hold my tongue and censor myself around them constantly.

So I think what happened is the lewdness of ten people got concentrated into one person.

It makes sense, I know a few people from large families, and there’s always one of them that’s the black sheep. Hell, I’m the oldest of 3 and I’m the black sheep of my family. Embrace it. You get to be one of the ones that isn’t disconnected from the rest of the world.

I'm really glad I'm not them. To be fair, they're generally nicer and more decent people than most of the religious conservatives you see online, but still they drank the cool aid and these days I show my face at whatever I think the bare minimum might be to not get everyone angry at me (like I avoid holiday gatherings now but I still went to my sisters wedding in January).

In fact the only reasons I haven't cut ties entirely is that I still rely on my parents to babysit for me occasionally and because my son still gets on well with them and his little cousins. So I put up with it for him. My daughter though has grown uncomfortable with them and I can't blame her, so I don't bring her around anymore. Especially because I wouldn't want to subject her to hearing anything anti-trans coming out of their mouths. She's still not out in the open yet except to me and her stepmom, which is the only reason I still use she/her pronouns (I guess one day she'll officially change it to he/him/his).

I get it. I come from a family of Catholics and Methodists, and the last truly practicing generation was my grandparents. My parents? I guess their plan is to fake it for Facebook and the doorman at the pearly gates. Neither attend church or anything, but my mom is absolutely one of those “share this if you thank Jesus that you woke up today” dipshits. I’ve never really been one to knock people for their faith, to each their own, but I always find myself clashing with them over their beliefs and their hypocrisy. To hear it from others, that’s the way it goes when you’re either an atheist or agnostic around religious people. It’s a constant battle of my perception versus their gimmick of faith. No one really has an answer for me other than “that’s God’s will/that’s God testing you” to my questions about bad things happening to good people and good things happening to bad people, so, I just chalk that up to yet another thing people can’t explain and write off as some form of divinity.

I have no such excuse, because while I have two half-siblings, I grew up as the only child.

Still agree with the meme though.
