Trials/Death
In this game, you aren't voting to lynch anyone, you're voting to send them to jail. The person jailed is not immediately removed from the game, but instead is "put on trial" during the next day phase. Once jailed, they cannot use any special abilities until released from jail (be that by early release or being found Innocent). They are also immune to any attacks from the Mafia, solo player, or any Citizens. However, when on trial, you can feel free to role claim as much as you want to try and save your bacon. Otherwise, I ask that you refrain from any role claiming. Hinting, however, is allowed.

The minimum amount of votes to arrest a player will be roughly the number of players / 2.

A handful of players will be chosen at random as the Jury for each trial and they will decide if the player is Guilty or Innocent. Guilty players are killed and removed from the game. Jury Verdicts are decided by simple majority.

Jurors get 1 vote and cannot change it. Be sure before you make your decision.

During each day phase you will also be concurrently deciding the next player to arrest (keep an eye on those juries).

~~~~~~~~~~
Tells/Clues
Each mafioso will have a "Tell", which will somehow affect how they participate in the game. When a Citizen uncovers a "Clue", they will learn one of these "Tells" at random.
~~~~~~~~~~

Tarot Cards
Each player will be assigned a Major Arcana Tarot Card. This is mainly for randomization purposes but will be used in other mechanics as well.

-----------

In this game there are 11 Citizen roles, chosen from the following:

Lawyer: Once per game can release a Defendant from Jail, by contacting the Governor via DM.
Gumshoe: Each night, can guess one of the Tells. If they are correct, this will be confirmed, uncovering that Clue.
Good Cop: Once per game, at night, can arrest a player to be put on trial the next day.
Vigilante: Each night, can watch over a player. If that player is attacked by the mob, a random mobster dies instead. (If the attacker was the Button Man, the Button Man will be the one killed)
Judge: Once per game, during a trial, can either release a player or condemn them to death.
The Snitch: When arrested for the first time, uncovers a Clue.
The Madam: Each night, she can provide shelter for a player, preventing kills or arrests. The protected player cannot use abilities.
Clairvoyant: Each night, uses their mystical abilities to converse with the land of the dead.
Gypsy: During the day, chooses a Tarot card from the first 16 Major Arcana (via DM to me). If the player that corresponds to that card dies, uncovers a Clue. If the corresponding player had publicly announced their Arcana, the Gypsy subsequently loses this power.
The Patsy: When killed, uncovers a Clue that is announced to the City.
The Foreman: Gets 2 votes when on a jury. Breaks ties.
The Angry Man: If placed on a Jury that finds a Citizen Not Guilty, uncovers a Clue (if they voted Not Guilty).
Bailiff: Once per trial, can switch a Juror out for a player not on the current jury. This can be a player in another jury, but they will trade places in this situation. (Via DM to me)
The Librarian: If the Librarian is in the game, anyone who makes more than 30 posts in a day can be "Shushed". "Shushed" players can only post once the following day.
Peeping Tom: Can watch a player at night. If that player is attacked, uncovers a Clue.
Barkeep: During the day can attempt to poison a player via public post. If the target is a villain, they are killed. If the target is a Citizen, the Barkeep dies instead.

In this game there are 4 Mobsters, chosen from the following:
The Don: Can only be killed by being found Guilty at Trial. There will always be a Don in the game.
The Consigliere: Each night can investigate a player, discovering their role.
The Cleaner: Twice per game can prevent deceased player roles from being revealed to the City at daybreak. The Cleaner will still learn these roles.
The Button Man: Once per game, at night, can kill a player in addition to the normal mob kill.
Mob Lawyer: Once per game can release a Defendant from Jail, by contacting the Governor via DM.
The Con Man: At night, can give a Citizen a random Tell that they have to perform for the rest of the game. If they fail to perform that Tell while the Con Man is alive, the Citizen is killed.

Solo Player:
Mad Bomber: Each night, can tag a player who posted an equal or fewer times than the Mad Bomber the previous day. At any point during the day, can trigger their explosives, killing all tagged players.

Win Conditions:
Citizens: Eliminate the Mafia and the Mad Bomber
Mafia: Eliminate the Mad Bomber and have the same number of players as the Citizens
Mad Bomber: If they are alive when the last Citizen OR Mobster dies, they win.

As I am on trial, allow me to plead my case for why I should be spared.

*ahem*

It would be funny.

Just imagine the dead thread!

But also, by condemning the Don today, you extend for another day the game in which the City cannot win. Let's end this already.

Vote to spare me and we'll end the game early and get on with our lives.

Friends, citizens, members of the jury, lend me your ears.

A number of great tragedies has befallen our dear City as of late. Every day there are new reports of people losing their lives in mysterious circumstances or to the deranged machinations of of some indiscriminate killer.

I pray that we can work together to put an end to the bloodshed.

You see, esteemed members of the jury, I am a family man. I take care of my family. I protect them. And in turn, my family takes care of me. It is what you might call a mutually beneficial relationship.

Y'know, it's a bit funny. When I look at the members of the jury, I see one member of the jury who reminds me much of my nephew, Paulie. Another who resembles my brother, Mickey. It's curious a Librarian figures amongst the jury. I seem to recall having advocated for a Librarian for our own dear city. I hope you have been enjoying your tenure and the power that comes with it. I almost feel like there's a place for some of you in my family, dear jury members. I'm speaking hypothetically here, of course, but I would be quite proud to have a member of the judiciary in my family.

I am saddened to admit that my organization has acquired a somewhat unsavory reputation during our time doing business. But I ask you, dear city, are you really all that different from me? From my organization? Figured amongst your ranks are, were unsavory characters:
  • foremen who rig juries in their favor, subverting the rule of justice;
  • so-called clairvoyants who con money out of the grieving, the most vulnerable of society;
  • women who run prostitution rings that take advantage of and coerce unfortunate women unable to make an honest living;
  • lecherous, peeping men who invade on the private lives of our citizens, involving themselves in the most intimate details of our home lives.

Are you proud of counting these people amongst your community? Even you, yourselves, have wrongfully condemned many innocent citizens to death. Are you proud of your actions? I know I am not proud of mine. But like me, you may have had to make some difficult decisions to ensure your safety.

Now, some of the allegations levied against my business associates have been egregious, but there have been some genuine concerns raised by members of this beautiful city's community. I promise you that my organization and I will strive to be better, to be more equitable. So that is why a propose a truce. Let us enter a new era of prosperity together.

We are a flawed people, but there is no senselessness behind our actions -- yours, or mine: We both have a desire to protect our own; we both have a strong sense of justice. Some of the recent deaths have been unfortunate, undeserved, even, but not senseless.

Except... for those lives lost to the dastardly and devious mad bomber.

I fear for your lives, dear members of the jury. Please do not misconstrue that for a threat, for I mean you no harm. But the cold reality is that there is a serial killer amongst us -- someone whose penchant for wanton destruction has ended the lives of many innocent people, endangered the lives of even more, and which has struck fear into the hearts of our children, our elderly -- into the tender hearts of anyone who dare to do so much as ride a bus to the local dairy.

But we can end that destruction today, members of the esteemed jury. We can restore a sense of law to the city, protect our businesses, our family, our children. If we just work together.

You see, my associates have identified the so-called "mad bomber" who has been plaguing the city with his senseless violence and destruction.

And this may shock you, dearest and most handsome members of the jury...

But he sits among you right now.

He will surely be voting in favor of ending my life, and thus to extend his reign of terror. Is this what you support? Endangering your own lives and the lives within your community?

This can stop today. You can put and end to his reign of terror. We can put an end to his reign of terror. But only if we work together.

But if you vote guilty, members of the jury, this spat could go on indefinitely. Words will fly like bullets, a cacophony of senselessness will erupt within the City, drowning out all meaningful dialogue and discussion. It will occupy your time, chip away at your sanity, and would do no honor to those watching on from beyond the grave. And, ultimately, it would resolve nothing. You cannot win. But we can win together.

You have my assurance that no more civilian lives will be lost in the city. And I am a man of my word. But the mad bomber cannot offer you the same assurances. Even now, I fear he has already targeted one of you today. I have caused you no harm, dear members of the jury, and yet this demented cur -- this murderous villain who sits among you -- intends to kill you. Is this who you would choose to side with?

I entreat you, dearest jury-goers, to vote to acquit. Let us end the terror brought on by the indiscriminate killings of this mad bomber.

Let us restore some sense of safety and justice to the citizens of our beautiful city!

Let us work together for a new beginning, a new future!

Let us enter a new era of hope!

And finally, let us rename the City to "Ericsville", in honor of the most judicious bailiff who recently met an unfortunate and untimely end -- and, of course, in honor of your prudent judgment, scrupulous jury members, in voting not guilty, and restoring safety and security to our beloved City!

That will be all for today. Thank you.

Hey @canadaguy I have a thought.

If no one goes boom today (or even if one of the two of us does) what if we kill off Kelly and then don't vote anyone to go on trial?

If Kelly is the Don, it means bomber can kill the last mafia and win since they'll be tied in posts. If Kelly is not the Don, then the mafia risks having us both killed in the night and losing that way.

Obviously if one of the two of us goes boom today that'll be handing the game to the mafia. But if nobody does... Then it would force the mafia to choose if they want to kill the bomber and give the town. 2-1 lead or to kill a townie and give the win to the bomber (if Kelly is the Don).

I see you men, usually of prudent judgment, have chosen to cede your city to the wanton terrorism of the bomber.

This will be your legacy: eschewing a chance at peace and harmony, and sacrificing your lives and the lives of your loved ones. I urge you men to reconsider your actions.

The mad bomber may stay his hand today to coerce you into finding me guilty, but you will certainly not be so lucky tomorrow, and he will rain fire and fury down upon your city.

By finding me guilty, you have aligned yourself with indiscriminate terrorist murder, rather than try to work together to achieve a new era of peace and justice for this city.

I have made my peace with the Lord. I hope he assures me a spot in His Kingdom. I hope if you find me guilty, and give the town over to hellfire and destruction, that you make time to do the same.

But if the bomber tagged one of the two of us last night, it would give the mafia a 50/50 shot of losing the game (if the Don isn't Kelly) by killing the other of us.

Man I hope Kelly wasn't lying about being the Don. Make the mafia choose if they want the citizens to win or the bomber to win instead of us choosing.

If you're confused by this statement:

If the bomber tagged me yesterday, and cg if killed by the mafia tonight, the bomber wins tomorrow. If I was tagged and the mafia kills me, then no one wins tomorrow.

No one else is talking so I'll keep going (Vash did warn you all that I'd be posting in an eruption to get it all out after yesterday): this was just an example of how things could go. As far as I'm aware, the bomber managed to tag Vash last night and plans to take over as game host and make a bunch of rule changes last minute to declare it a joint victory between the bomber and all Eric/ks of the world.

So if it takes 2 votes to get a trial and no one goes boom today then either cg and I can just not vote or we can split our votes and see if the other mafia member and mad bomber decide to vote for each other. If only one of them does, we can remove our votes at the end of the day end make no trial happen.
I'm game. Come at us you cowards

If you jail the bomber, mafia wins.
If you jail the mafia, bomber wins.
If you split your votes and jail no one, the bomber wins.

Same outcome as finding me not guilty (evils win), but more steps involved.
I said if the other two don't vote for each other we take our votes off and send no one to jail.

If we each vote one and they each vote eachother for some reason, they both go on trial.

If we jail no one, the choice on who wins goes to the mafia, not us. It just guarantees the mafia can't win in the same way that us taking any action to jail just one person guarantees we don't win. Shifts the responsibility of choosing which "not us" team wins to another team.

Yeah, unless the mafia kills the bomber tonight.
How many different ways do I have to say it? The mafia won't kill the bomber tonight.

Vote not guilty, and a new future awaits you: A city named in your honor, a new era of peace, free from the menace of a terrorist bomber, free from any further killings.

Or, stick to your plan and doom the city to destruction and mayhem.

That's your (well not you specifically) choice. It's the only way to give even a hint of a possibility of the citizens winning, and if the mafia chooses to let the bomber win...the Bomber deserves to win. They were the only person to take out members of the mafia.

Actually, I have an offer from my associate, if you'd be interested in hearing how the City might still win.

I mean we have nothing but time and there's only 3 of us who can talk today.

What proposal are you bringing to the Council of Erics?
Either you or canadaguy sacrifice yourself today.
One of you votes for the other to be jailed for tomorrow.
The other one also votes for themselves to be jailed.
You can both vote "guilty" on me.
Tonight, the remaining mafia kills the bomber.
Tomorrow, it's a 50/50 as to whether the town wins, or the mafia wins.

It's the best odds you'll get.

Please explain the 50/50 nature here.

If one of us ends up on trial and everyone else dies, what does the jury makeup look like? Is it 1 person? Is it both people? @VashTheStampede

Additionally, this would take the risk that the bomber didn't tag one of us, since they could just kill us off during the day today, which would result in it being a Mafia win tomorrow by allowing you to kill the bomber tonight if we don't jail you instead of one of us.

That's precisely why the bomber has tagged you, but has chosen not to kill you until tomorrow.

Here's the scenario:
Tomorrow, you are on trial.
The jury is made up of one person, randomly selected.
If it's mafia, mafia wins.
If it's City, city votes to acquit.
Mafia votes to jail citizen. Citizen votes to jail mafia.
The next day, citizen votes mafia "guilty".
