Saw this one this evening with my two older kids (so ten and nearly seven). I haven't seen any reviews but can see that it is a little middling on Rotten Tomatoes. I can understand why. It's formulaic. The action has taken a step up since the older films, but it doesn't do anything to break the mould. The villain doesn't really come close to the villains of the original films and is very one dimensional. Seeing Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio is great, and they put in good performances. It's really just fan service though. There's nothing even remotely surprising plot wise or in terms of the characters.

And that was exactly the film we wanted. I enjoyed seeing the actors from my youth. The kids enjoyed the shiny new wrapper that it's presented in. They were both basically cheering the main character on in the last fight. The film is going to win any awards and if you were critiquing it there are a lot of holes to pick, but we all had a great time.

EDIT: I see on Rotten Tomatoes that it's 57% critics and 91% crowd. Exactly what I'd expect.
