Milestone Inching Closer to Triple Digits

That was fast. We're almost to the triple digits for members joined, and our user activity has been pretty solid throughout that time. I feel like this is more active than the original GW was just before the note went out about it being shut down permanently (at which point activity went way up again).

The original GW grew more quickly than this, but that was obviously because it was linked to a heavily trafficked main site. A month and a half in there were ~1500 members there. We obviously won't reach that height, but man...getting to a 10th of that would be pretty awesome in such a short time.

Happy that this place is back and that we're all here for it.

I’m floored by the activity… I was just talking to @Crystal about how traffic here has already exceeded PG and GWo traffic, and those were the two largest GW spin-offs from both of us, back when GW was still breaking 10k posts daily. Active members have steadily been running at a higher percentage, too. If half of PG and GWo’s members were active, 3/4 of ours here are.

As far as the badging goes… I dunno if you noticed me experimenting with a walker on your profile yet, but I’m working out a way to badge all of the original members to distinguish them from new ones… but I’ve ran into issues with implementation since there’s really no way to cross-check and verify without doing it manually… which is ultimately what I expect to have to do. The “OG 100” badge idea is definitely a good one. I’ve also thought about adding one for user 69 and user 420, but that’s because I’m a man child.

A "Nice" and a "Blaze It" badge are both good.

I did see the walker for sure. I don't anymore, but it's also still counted in my total badge count.


And yeah. I don't know what I was expecting for activity...but it certainly wasn't this. I thought we'd get like 20-30 people for a while and have like 10-15 active probably. This is WAY better though.

Same, I had no clue we'd get anywhere near this level of activity, it's been absolutely wonderful to see it take off as it has! Loving this, it's been such a blast of fresh air on a stale internet

A literal perfect storm between nostalgia, disdain of modern social media, and boredom with down time.

I mean… I’m a 2A supporter in a blue city. I can say with 100% confidence that most of these motherfuckers out there would think twice if they didn’t know whether or not the person they were about to rob was carrying. I’ve seen what happens in a heavily regulated state… it’s like open season on law-abiding citizens. The criminals know most people are carrying around a few hundred dollar phone with access to their bank accounts and no real way to defend themselves against a gun, so…
