Is there a cheap gym like Planet Fitness near you? Here the cheapest membership is/was $10/month, so at least you could shower and fill up a water bottle or two

You don't realize how completely useless we are without water/power until it's taken way.
Honestly those in rural areas that have to use wells, septic tanks and such are in a much better disaster position than everyone in towns.

It's great until it's not. Our town had water issues in the main lines a few times, but I'm on a well and septic where the water has generally tested fine.
Problem is if any of the system goes down it's all on me to fix and gets expensive. Everyone is always jealous of me not having a water bill monthly, but I have to have the septic pumped every 2 years at $400 a pop and replace filters often, so am I really saving money?

awww man, i used to party at these older kids place and the toilet got so bad they they'd have to go around the corner and up the road to one of their mates to have a shit... that's not hte last thing i want to think about before going to bed so it has to be one of the first things you guys think of today.

For real, we were, and still might be in a drought in the western part of the state. That last system that came through here dumped a fuckton of rain on the whole tristate region. Most of the low-lying areas got flooded, and today... Sunny with dark gray skies. Make it make sense.

We had a heatwave in July 2022. It hit 40C here which was more than 4C over the record and there was basically no humidity. It felt like Las Vegas.
We're not quite in drought quite yet. There was an attempt at a storm the other day but it was a bit pathetic. We sometimes get convective storms here (the ones that end a heatwave by dumping a flood) but it's too cool right now.
The weather in that picture you posted looks very Singaporean. Storm on one end, sunshine on the other. It was common over there for it to be sunny, a storm roll through for 30-45 minutes and then just return to sunshine as if nothing happened.
I mean technically I can have water, it just wouldn't come out of the pipes in the manner it's supposed to!

Funny enough, that's exactly what happened here. We were encroaching the 80°F Mark for a couple days, only for that front to swing by and drop it 20°F on average today.
I took that picture as I was typing up my response. It has already gotten simultaneously darker and brighter.
Y'all dealing with the issue where sewage got into the freshwater supply? Or has it just disrupted the pressure?

No, luckily it's just a failure in the cold supply at a joint. The pipe issue is minor, but the problem is getting to the problem area because the idiots who built this place decided to bury them in concrete under a wall.

I've had to deal with life with no water multiple times. The toilet thing was already mentioned, but I'll mention one of the things that have been a game changer for me (and we honestly still use it even when we have water now).
We have those giant 20L jugs of water up here, I only assume you have access to them, they're typically associated with water coolers (which can be costly), there are more affordable ways to use them like a water pump you can slap on the top of the jug, they're less than twenty bucks... these can basically function as a makeshift faucet and can be used for dishes, brewing coffees, drinkable water, and a plethora of other options.
They look like this:

Oddly enough, they installed that fence that way... And learned a valuable lesson in weight distribution judging by the need to replace the post where the gate latch is. My amateur carpenter mind freaks out when I see some of the work done around here by the builders and contractors.

That hole could be the first tack point from welding, assuming the plumber welded the elbow. I've seen corrosion like that from using the wrong type of solder for the exposure it'll face and from overworking a particular spot, i.e., the welder was held in that spot for a fraction of a second too long.

It's an internal 15mm branch pipe, but really most domestic plumbing is not that big. A supply pipe is going to be 25mm/1 inch for a typical house, which at 3 bar can supply a little over 12 litres a second.
Though in another story, my supply was 7.5 bar because the regulator had failed.
