Find out, if you dare!

For me, it's $3,371.50.

This is not a new feature but has gained some attention recently. Old Spend is prior to 17 April 2015, so almost exactly a decade ago.

To find it in the Steam Client go to the top left and click Help, then Steam Support, or alternatively click Support from the web browser version of the Steam Store. From there click on My Account, Data Related To Your Steam Account and then External Funds Used (you may need to sign in again to see it).

My spending has clearly slowed, down to $1,366 in the last decade. I do use third-party sites and redeem keys though which explains some of it, but not all. I also rarely buy things in Steam sales any more.

I can't find the same "External Funds Used" option you have, only a listing of my purchases going back to buying The Orange Box on October 12, 2007.

But totaling up those purchases, I've spent $2,539.92 over 20 years. Which honestly isn't as bad as I expected.

My utilization of those purchases is trash, though. I've only played 40% of the 277 games I own... Also only a $828 account value from Steam Calculator.

Not too bad. About 1700 over the last ten years, so 170 per year. Blown through way more than that in console games in the same time frame.

$1462.

More than I thought, still less than what most have spent. Rarely buy games on Steam when they're not on sale.

I am stupid frugal when it comes to my Steam spending because I know I likely won't play many of the games for long enough to make a full price purchase acceptable.

Edit: "OldSpend" is about 325 bucks.

I have a pretty comparable value to my spend, but it'd boosted from quite a few Humble Bundles

Reset my password to get in through the site.

I don't really get why it's split like this, when the purchase history I looked over went back to October 2007 so... That should include "old spend". 🤷🏻‍♂️

Edit: Ohhh, it's just flagging what was over 10 years ago. Got it.

So my spending dropped by about 56% over the past decade. I definitely have used Steam as much as when I was a teenager so that makes sense. I'm sure my Playstation spend made up for it.

The fact that it's almost exactly 10 years is just a coincidence. It's the date when Valve locked certain account features such as trading from new accounts with less than $5 spent, up from the previous $0.01.

It's been that way since the External Funds Used thing was launched back in 2018 (for GDPR reasons). Come to think of it I'm sure I'd seen this page before.

What is the package only spend mean? For some here its almost as mucb as the total spend, but others it's significantly less.

Looked it up I started and I started my Steam account December 31 2006. So yeah I must have had some wild new years plans that year

So this is interesting. I've only spent maybe $70 total (I gifted one game ages ago and recently bought one cheap indie game for myself). However, my account was compromised after I gifted the game, when I had no games for myself and no payment info attached, and when I got it back, it had a bazillion games in the library. I assumed it'd just say $70ish spent because surely a person didn't steal my empty account just to spend money on it, did they? And yet...

I'm guessing that old spend is the one game I gifted. So somebody else spent over 200 bucks? They had a lot of hours spent playing games too. I still wonder what that was all about.

I had my League of Legends account get hacked once years ago after I had stopped playing it for a bit. I imagine some website got hacked with my info and it was the same as that account. Regardless, I was blissfully ignorant to it until one day the hacker, or whatever victim was sold the account, bought their currency on it and I got an email about it. When I saw it, changed all my info, and got back into it, I noticed that 1) they were flaming people and got me chat banned for a bit, 2) were playing ranked with minimal luck, and 3) had bought at least 2 skins that I now own for free.

I guess I won in the end?

Haha, isn't that game free to play?! Why are people stealing free accounts and spending money on them?? So weird.
At the time, and to some degree still today, you have to either play a lot or spend money to first unlock all the champions. Then if you had gotten any skins or other things, those also add up to the value of the account.

Then there's the whole market of ranked accounts, where folks in lower ranks want to gloat by buying higher rank ones to show to whomever.

Those are the main reasons. Some FOMO too for some things.
