Really surprised he went to Bayern. Awesome club, but thought he'd stay in the Premier League. Just don't think the right bid from an English club came in for him. He'll do well at Bayern.

I actually feel sorry for Kane. The guy has clearly wanted to leave for another PL club for so long to win trophies, but Daniel Levy is ruthless when it comes to business. He's 30 now and his best years are probably almost up. He'd of killed it at City, Liverpool or probably even Utd.

Levy would rather not sell to an in league club, I also think Harry didnt want to go to another London club, and City doesnt need a striker, so it limited his choices

I'd argue he has done that to some extent. Bayern are never threatened

Were last year, Dortmund bottled the league in the last match, as well as the league about 4 or 5 years ago with when they had a 9 point lead in the second half

The big issue is Bayern is the only club that can offer wages that are competitive with EPL and the two big Spanish teams. Look at how many players from the Buli EPL (and sometimes spain) buys. Leipzig lost 4 or 5 starters, one did go to Bayern, but the rest are going to England. If Dortmand still had Haaland last year they win the league.

All true, but now Dortmund have lost Bellingham and Bayern have gained Harry Kane, so difficult to see them getting close this year. Dortmund still have a lot of talent, but it feels like things have shifted back to Bayern.

Yeah, though still lookling like a mess at the keeper and the 6. But yeah, Bayern can afford to go buy a Kane, or Kim this year, last year De Ligt and Mane (who didnt work out) all who came from outside the league. BVB either has to scout young talent get someone who hasnt "worked out" or a little older

I also feel like players like Bellingham or Gvardiol (who just left Leipzig for City) used to stay a year or two longer before getting sold, but now it feels like they're getting bought up at a quicker rate.

I think back to Ajax when the finals or Monaco(?) made the semis and the next year their squads were gutted. It's a shame at the state of the sport, sure my club is one that will mostly be okay (though will have a hard time keeping up with the EPL money), but I'd love to see more parity not just in the Buli, but in all of football.

Jamie, the only Liverpool supporter I like!

To your point Quagmire it really is such a shame. I can remember the days of Everton competing forthat4-5th spot and mismanagement of our Club aside this is just something that doesn't realistically happen anymore. Leicester may be the last time in our lifetime we see a meteoric rise without significant cash injections from owners.

On the subject of overperforming their spend Brighton deserve a lot of credit

Very likely, they needed a lot to happen and even though money doesnt always mean success, look at Man U lately, but it eventually wins out, as back to Man U, it seems they've figured it out.

We'll probably never see a club outside the top 5 win a CL title, Porto was the last. Ajax was close, but it takes a lot of luck in developing home grown players and you get one shot before the team is picked apart.

Look back at the European Champions of the 80s-early 00s, a lot more variety in the amount of clubs

I get the issues europeans have with american sports with no promotion and relegation, but salary cap (other than MLB) and drafts, also not being able to just buy and sell players for cash make it more competitive over the long haul. It'll never happen in UEFA for multiple reasons, but would love to see a few things implemented like a wage cap.
