I got excited when canadaguy guessed Star Wars because I read the "Star" part first

I asked my husband about this series, did they abandon the IP? He said that they came out with a new one or something when one of the new consoles came out, maybe the Switch? But they made it for the old console and so hardly anyone bought it and they haven't really touched the series since.

It's Star Fox Zero. It's a reimagining of Star Fox 64 that came out in April 2016 on Wii U so about a year before the Switch came out. The problem is that because it used the Wii U's gamepad extensively it would have been impossible to port without basically redoing the whole game. Also, aside from the soundtrack it wasn't that good.

Nintendo forced in Wii U Gamepad controls into the game without providing an alternative (lime what Factor 5 did wjth Lair after the initial backlash). Even after play testers at conventions clearly stated that it was unintuitive, Nintendo still went forward to the shitty control scheme thinking "players will just get used to it."
