Dammit I knew I knew it somehow, I just couldn't figure it out ;_;
my dumbass almost said "Fire Emblem" and almost went down that rabbit hole before I remembered that it was Kid Icarus.

I still need to get around to playing the original. Keep debating whether I should shell out for the NES cart or the NES classic which has Kid Icarus on it.

I think one of the most interesting things about this is that you can really pin down what systems and genres folks have played.

Yeah, never played on a NES. Not entirely sure I've ever seen one in the flesh. I've played a SNES on an inflight entertainment system which does technically run on proper hardware (it's called Nintendo Gateway) but I've never played on an actual console. I've played a bit of NES and a lot more SNES on emulators.

As for Sega home consoles, my cousins had a Mega Drive which I know I played Road Rash on, and I have a feeling an old school friend may have had a Saturn? Never owned one of any description though. I'm not sure I've even played an emulated Dreamcast game.

As for portables, I had a Game Gear and Game Boy Colo(u)r. In truth though I've always fairly or not seen portable gaming as inferior to home console or PC gaming and so I've largely used them to play Pokemon. I couldn't get the previous game because I've never played a portable Mario save for the Switch if you count that.

Part of that is age since I was born after the Super Famicon but before the Super Nintendo, but also because I mostly played PC back then and still prefer it.

yep that is the correct answer. What I was trying to figure out was, how many people would know the song from the original OR would at least Smash help out with this song, the familiarity of it.

it's supposed to be the Overworld Theme from original Legend of Zelda, but like, what dimmerwit said is the same melody and rhythm and stuff, so yeah...it's Zelda y'all

Edit: also this was a close call, Ben and TD were about to fire up the engines again maybe

Eh, honestly last time trying too hard to work this out kind of broke me. I'm resigned to not knowing anything and never getting on the board, but at least I won't go insane (over this.)
