I need a suggestion for a very specific game

ps5 (or 4)

shooter

age appropriate for an 11 year old (a little bit of freedom on language and Gore, but no sexual content)

single player driven, specifically a game that doesn't require internet once you're in.

all ideas welcome!

Are you looking for more like a "traditional FPS"?

Or would something like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart suffice?

It's third person shooter with a mix of melee and shooting.. but thematically I'm not sure if it fits the need because it might be "too cartoony".

(I have a 10yo nephew that loves it).

The Uncharted series might be a good bet. You can get the first 3 games together super cheap and I think it straddles a nice line between not being kiddie but also not being as gratuitous as most modern games.

I will second the Ratchet & Clank series too. Although I feel like the games are best enjoyed by kids younger than 11 or older than ~25, as most of the people in between want something a bit more violent.

uncharted might be a good idea actually, I'm sad I didn't think of that myself

I didn't think of Uncharted either- and since it's a whole series that's relatively inexpensive, it's probably a good bet.

Man, shooters are so not my thing. Everything that I would immediately suggest would be... objectively not great, for an 11-year old. Things like Doom 2016/Eternal (gore/ultraviolence) and Bulletstorm (it swears more outlandishly than I do). :chuckle

The only other FPS actively on my radar is Metal: Hellsinger, which... YMMV. Haven't experienced more than the first ~30 minutes. Obviously still some amount of violence, but it's somewhat more cartoon-y than Doom I guess? No obvious potty mouth or super suggestive stuff that I'm seeing while skimming through that video.

If we move away from FPS, then these may be good choices as well:

- Destroy All Humans
- Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered
