I put forth the bare minimum effort into wishing people happy birthday.

And by bare minimum, I text only immediately family.

I don't like feeling obligated to do stuff and if I don't want to do something, I'm not going to pretend to care just to make someone happy. At this point it's a "I acknowledge your existence" statement.

I literally forgot my best friend's brother's birthday the other day. Had to shoot him a message last night lol.

I remember birthdays but by "remembering" I mean not in my head lol but I keep track in Word & make it a point to check it on a daily basis to see what is upcoming or not. On forums, I like to wish people a happy birthday about a week ahead. That gives people time to respond & gives the person time as well. If it's email, phone, I like to do it a couple days ahead of time for a similar reason.
