Who were your favorite characters of yours? Who were your favorite characters of other people?

For me, my favorite of mine was Alex Michaels. He was such a direct opposite of myself, and being able to play a womanizing absolute douche bag was always fun.

I liked reading Darius Falcon, and he was probably my favorite character overall. Shawn Walsh from TripleDanger was also a favorite (not least of which is because I owe any success I had to the guy and his inability to beat sevens), Joe was always able to create interesting characters, Bruce Bishop, Gothic, Roderick Brookes being one of the most sinister bastards alive, and Roberto Morelli.

There are a bunch of others that I just can't even remember the names of right now that were always a joy.

Most people remember Daniel Shine and Darius Falcon, but I enjoyed some of my dumber characters like Mike Boogie and SVETA with Marc Henderson as her manager too. I enjoyed writing competitive promos and building stories, so even promos with Brady Cruise or Christopher Shoen were a lot of fun, as long as they mattered or were leading to something.

I enjoyed so many characters. Getting to write match results, you really got into everyone's characters and tried to portray their actions in the ring the way the creator/writer would want. There are way too many to list, but I'll try...

Some of my favorite wrestlers to write matches (based a lot on style):
Kenzo Katana
David Walker
Drake Vinaldi
Rohan Malhotra
Nile
Chris Chambers
Tristan Novak
Adam Pugh
Roderick Brookes
Damon Black
Darius Falcon

There are loads of others, but those come to mind.

Favorite promos would be much lengthier... I remember so many roleplayers and enjoyed their writing.

Vash had a ton of awesome characters that all seemed to be good in their own ways... I don't remember any weak characters... Roberto Morelli, Shockwave, David Walker, and I can't remember the character who drank a lot but he was in a tag team later with a similar named character and they were awesome. He teamed with Vic Vodka and I can't remember his name, which is embarrassing lol
Zio had so many greats... Katana, Komodo, Dante and Adam Priest, and we had a really fun feud in Double H's revived CWA later when I was El Ovino Negro and he had a great character whose name escapes me.
Rick actually created Damian Hawk, who I stole lol. He also came up with the name Darius Falcon for an entirely different character, and I stole that, too. Thanks, Rick! On top of that, 1deone1 stole Lance Van Leer and started RPing as him on another site. Anyway, LVL was great, especially the later stuff with Scarlett and the WC.
Jay had so many too. I feel bad in hindsight for giving him and Zio crap about Murderous Intent. I definitely caved into some peer pressure. I wish I would've been mature enough then to realize it just wasn't gonna be everyone's cup of tea all the time and people can enjoy it or not, kind of like my early Daniel Shine stuff. Also, Bruce Bishop is Kaimutsu's bitch. But I digress. Damon Black, El Negro (who would not make it in 2023), and the legend Jay Thunder.
DeeD was great with Malice, but he really came into his own as "Awesome" Andy Stevens
Joe
X became really good with Rohan Malhotra and had a couple other characters too
dmg with Chris Chambers
TripleDanger was another good one
tworow could be awesome when he was motivated
Andy/Northern Lights became great with Adam Hurst
Tony/Roderick Brookes when motivated had some awesome stuff
There are so many others though... I can't remember them all right now.

How could I forget Andy and Adam Hurst? Andy gave me such a huge breakout with Michaels and was pushing him to the moon.

I didn't mean to slight you. Alex Michaels was awesome. I forgot to mention him. I loved writing his matches and reading your promos during that time. That was probably my favorite era.
Oh I don't feel slighted. My ego diminished a lot when I went away from my moderately privileged life and entered the real world. I tried hard to be a good writer amidst a sea of extremely talented writers who did it almost effortlessly. Seriously, seeing what Zio was able to do put into perspective I was amongst giants.

It's funny how seriously we all took things back then. I regret how I treated Neo Matrix and Double H because their views on running e-feds differed from mine. I pretty much ran them out, because I was too arrogant and critical. I wish I would've been more understanding of others' views back then.

I just wish I had stuck around for the last days. School had gotten in the way, prep exams, applying to med school, moving to an entirely different state with a newborn, marriage, trying to finish med school, residency, eventually moving back home after I was finished. Growing up didn't do me any favors. Writing and roleplay was always an escape and a stress reliever for me.

I remember you had a lot on your plate. Honestly, the last 5+ years, I was very inconsistent. Joe, X, and a few others kept things going. I would sporadically come back and try to run things again, but I had way too many personal responsibilities and just didn't have the time. I always enjoyed writing and playing the characters too, and match writing for me was a ton of fun, even if it became an incredible burden to write long matches consistently.

I just thought of Dan Dunn and Dave Cashman, too. He was another very consistent, positive dude. There were a lot of very cool people who were easy to get along with and made everything fun and genuinely appreciated the work everybody put into it. I'll see if I can reach out to a few people on FB.

I'm sure Dean gave me a shout-out on FB right after this post, haha. Cashman was a fun commentary on the early fighting between wrestling/MMA fans at the time and developed into a really good character with Dean and I think X's help. I got better at things after mellowing out.

Like everyone else, I ended up with a lot of adult commitments by the end because I was in college and/or at work one of the times.

Lots of great names mentioned here. I specifically remember Komodo and Shine and Murderous Intent in particular, which was very fun. I also called Damian Priest Adam Priest the other day, which I'm sure was a character here haha.

Oh man, Whiskey Jim? One half of the ATF! One of my favorite moments was where we had Vic do the ol HHH water spray with alcohol onto Jim's bandage-wrapped arm, then light it on fire so he could hit a flaming lariat, all to justify the "Firearms" part of the ATF name.

Of my own characters my favorite was definitely David Walker. His evolution over the years inspired some promos where I really broke out of my normal routine and tried some new stuff, for better or worse.

Some personal favorite characters were Titan, Daniel Shine, and Chris Chambers. I used to make CAWs of all three in my old wrestling video games.

Definitely Roderick Brookes. He could be so good that I became a bit of a bitch when going against him because I wasn't used to being clearly outgunned in a promo duel. Felt like that old gunslinger who realized the next duel could be his last.

Gothic was one of the first characters I read that really felt larger than life, something I tried to emulate a LOT in my early days before I descended into gritty realism.

And I always admired Double H's ability to feel like a legit big time WWE-style sports entertainment megastar. He always innately brought that big match feel.

Tony was so good with Roderick Brookes. I wish he would've been able to be more consistent. I loved his feuds and his promos because they got so personal and nasty.

Whenever I had to RP against you, Zio, or Jay, I knew I was in for a rough time, if it was strictly competitive. I loved it, but I also knew that I might very well lose. It was fun doing feuds with everyone though. I might make another thread, actually...

Komodo, Titan, Kenzo Katana, Dante Priest, Adam Priest, Brett Conwell...

... oh, OTHER people's characters? That'll take a minute. :D
Jokes aside, Daniel Shine was always one of my faves, blended the serious wrestling side with comedy quite well so his promos were really versatile. I also loved a lot of the old school guys like Shockwave, Double H and Nightmare, but I was also always more of a heavyweight "sports entertainer" guy in terms of what I liked in actual pro wrestling, despite my "main" character kind of being the antithesis of that. Of course Jay's characters, Damon Black and Bruce Bishop (and Drake Vinaldi of course) were consistently awesome, Lance Van Leer, Adam Hurst, Roderick Brookes... I could go on quite a bit, lol.

I also had some characters I kinda irrationally liked. Not that they were bad, but when I was writing matches or deciding winners I could feel myself WANTING to have them win because I just liked the idea or gimmick of them so much, so when they no-showed a promo I remember getting really annoyed. I probably shouldn't mention names cause I feel like it might be taken the wrong way, though.

Man, I used to get so mad when I had planned for a character push just for the RPer to no show and we had to change plans and hope it wouldn't screw up other plans. It was heartbreaking when the roleplayer would miss a deadline or ghost us, then come back later and do it again. That happened a lot. I was guilty of it at times, though, but yeah.

It's great to see your screen name again (no h--- wait it's 2023 I can't say that)

Aw. 🥰

btw one of my favorite post-GW stories is from a couple of years ago when someone from here got in touch with me on Reddit, and over the course of our conversation I figured out they didn't realize "Hunter Hendricks" was my actual name and I'd just made a character that was myself; they thought I'd just been a knock-off Triple H for like, ten years on the internet or whatever

anyway helloooo

If not for the Reddit part I'd swear to god that was me. I thought it really was a Triple H reference for years, because honestly most of our characters from the vintage GWF/XGW days were beyond idiotic. :D
