Seems bad because the only way to kill wolves will be either seer checks or complete random luck. The whole idea of the game besides using whatever powers you have is to try to read people's behaviors, and nobody is going to act any differently or suspiciously if they don't know whether they're a wolf or not. Could be a fun meta game maybe, but not a regular game because it eliminates one huge aspect of the game.

I think taking away roles would make it even worse. Although that gives me an idea for a modification: everyone is assigned a townie role, but the wolves and solos get fake townie roles and it will be up to them to figure it out because if their powers don't work then that would be a clue (imagine if a fake gunner or priest tries to use their powers publicly and nothing happens, lol). Everyone can submit not just a wolf kill but also take a stab at a wolf power just in case they think they might be shadow or shaman or whatever. At least one player has to be alpha wolf to guard against ties for wolf kill each night (no wolf chat would make it impossible to coordinate).

Maybe wolf chat could start forming when two or more living wolves figure out that they are wolves.

Definitely this, but also there can be strategy beyond picking particular players. Maybe you want to avoid targeting the same player that others will target. Maybe you'd like to target the same one. Choosing by some method besides RNG gives you a chance to do that.

Or just make a meta where no one knows if they're a wolf. Everyone gets a villager/solo role and everyone submits a nightly kill.

Only the wolf kills will be accounted for at night.

I don't know people's roles for sure, because I haven't been paying a lot of attention, but Alu is on the right track now questioning if the SK is alive. The couple is banking on the idea that the SK is still alive. And maybe it's me, but Zell's played differently. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. Ben is a known wolf and they know there's a couple. Right now the town has played scared of a SK, because they buy Kat as a wolf (which is what the couple wants).
