Discussion D&D Character Show & Tell Thread

I know we kind of already had similar threads talking about our past characters and building ones for the GW campaigns and such, but those are all old and moldy now. And I thought it'd be cool to just have a place to post any random brainstorm ideas for the silly little guys in our heads that we'd like to use in future games someday as well. So this is just a "talk about characters you've played, are currently playing, or want to play" sort of deal. Can be NPCs, other TTRPGs, BG3 characters, just vague ideas, whatever. I was always curious to hear what kind of characters our DMs would play if they weren't running the show, personally.

I'm the type to spend hours in character creators, and I'll usually try to come up with some kind of vague backstory if I know I'll have to make choices. I'm also a big nerd who will fall into D&D rabbit holes reading about subclasses and stuff, and end up spawning a new idea out of boredom. So needless to say I have a lot in the back of my mind I've never used for anything. Just gonna dump a bunch of the ones I have used and some of the other ideas I have here:

Here's the guy I'm about to use in a campaign soon: Torin "The Thunder" Galefist.

He's an air genasi, but instead of being human-sized he looks like (and thinks he is) a dwarf (his skin's not supposed to be this purple, but AI moment. Looks cool anyway). He was strangely found in a shipwreck as a baby by a passing charter ship and was adopted by the crew. After growing up as a sailor, he eventually found his calling as an arena/pit fighter while docked at a port city. Gained a bit of fame in town that way and became like this very showboaty pro wrestler type who lives to fight and entertain the crowd. We're starting at level 5, and he's an unarmed Fighter (Eldritch Knight subclass). We got a couple magic items, so I chose some tattoos that he can change at will and give him some combat buffs. His ring name is The Thunder, and a buddy of mine is playing a female aarakocra tempest cleric who later joins him as a lightning-based partner in the fighting scene. So we're Thunder & Lightning. I jump around doing lots of wind/thunder stuff while she smites people from the skies.

This is Drexian Brass, my first Baldur's Gate 3 character:

He's an Oath of Vengeance Paladin who used rapiers and other finesse weapons instead of strength. Always thought a white tiefling would be cool, and he was supposed to be from a noble family who came into wealth and power by making a pact with some sort of devil, leading to him being born a tiefling. His parents were very stereotypical rich assholes who forgot their own meager origins and looked down on the poor. Whereas he had made friends with poor kids, so he was all about protecting the less fortunate. But my understanding of tieflings seemed to be much different from the Forgotten Realms version. I wasn't expecting them to be such a widespread, unified race that was from like a specific place. My only exposure to them previously was Critical Role.

Here's Horace Snowgrin of the Stoneheart clan, who I'm planning on using in a future campaign DMed by my aarakocra buddy.

He's a homebrew mammoth variant of the loxodon race, and is an Order Cleric. He was a friendly family man in a remote mountain village up north. After his village was attacked by a horde of undead giants, he was left as one of the few survivors, and grew bitter. He lost his faith in Moradin, but after wandering alone for some time he began seeing signs from the Raven Queen. He would eventually begin worshipping her instead, and makes a vow to rid the world of undead.

My backup character if Torin dies is Mario. Literally just Super Mario. He's a halfling Rune Knight Fighter / Sorcerer multiclass. Uses a hammer, can grow in size, knows spells like Jump and Fire Bolt, etc.

I have a copper dragonborn character that I wasn't originally going to use for anything, but he ended up being my 2nd BG3 playthrough choice. His name is Roach and he's a little bug-loving weirdo who lives in the forest hanging out with animals. No real backstory for him, but would probably be some "raised by wolves"-ass thing. Negative charisma and very little understanding of civilized life. Probably on some sort of spectrum. Was originally supposed to be a druid, but I added in a bit of ranger so he could have the big spider companion.

I've had a Blood Hunter character floating around in my head ever since Vash brought up running Curse of Strahd, so I've been saving him for the next person I know who decides to run that module. I could never decide what race to actually make him, but he'd start out as like a fisherman or something and then become a monster hunter after contracting lycanthropy. If he was a goliath he'd either be a (tiger) wereshark or a white weretiger. I figured the gray body with tattoos that turn into stripes would be cool, and I think there might be something tiger-related in the adventure so that could make things interesting. If he was a dragonborn he'd either be silver or white, and he'd turn into a werecroc of the same color. Also thought about making him a triton/sea elf/water genasi (I don't remember which, they're all the same to me) and choosing one of the aquatic were-creatures already mentioned. Regardless, I might use like a trident and/or a net as their initial weapons.
