So PS Plus has a 2 hour trial of this game available.

...would I be correct to assume this is nowhere near enough time to reasonably determine if I'll enjoy it?

honestly, it is! that's more than enough time to get you through the tutorial intro stage of the game and by the time you finish that you'll know whether or not it's a game for you. it is a CRPG through and through. that said there is SO MUCH to that game that if your backlog's already chest deep you might wanna be careful. i've been chipping away at my BGIII save for months and i'm still not done with act 2

Backlog is huge but nothing I'm actively playing. Playing D&D on here has me curious.

What's a CRPG?

It would basically be to check it out and see if I'll buy it one day rather than immediately as I'm not actively playing anything.
Unless you spent 1-2 hours in the character creation screen lol. So maybe plan and figure all that out before booting the game.
Is there a good resource out there that I can use so I can plan ahead of time?

Honestly, you could actually just use DnDB with only the base classes. And that's it! Pick the same lvl1 things and onward! One step above that I'd google what you think you want to do +BG3 in it. Too many sites were fishing views so I never found one good single site for info.

Though now that I think about it, just making the  appearance of your customers character can take hours. And there's a nakid button.

Or ignore all that a d pick one of the origin characters and be off in less than 5 mins! Those are the folks who'd become your companions in the game and have many extra story elements to them.

Hmm.

Nekkie or origin will be the way.

My intent is not to pick up with this character if I do buy it eventually, but to treat it as more of a fully functional demo.

the C stands for Computer! primarily games like fallout 1 and 2 (though later fallouts not so much), planescape torment, shadowrun, vampire the masquerade bloodlines, neverwinter nights, and to a lesser extent dragon age origins. dialogue and story heavy, character stats and sheets, focus on player choice and exploration. if you’ve played any of those games i listed and liked them, you’ll really enjoy bg3

The two hours can be deceptive, though. I have 11 hours into the game and have completely dropped it. It's overwhelmingly large and I can't do it. It's also a slow burn, which does not agree with me anymore.

Not trying to dissuade you. I loved the first few hours and then the amount of content kept rolling in and I got a paralysis of sorts and was overwhelmed to the point of uninstalling.

I disagree, 2 hours isn't enough at all. I mean, still do it, but it's not at all.

I have... somewhere over 300 hours and I keep restarting for various reason. @TD when you can, buy this game.

@The Eye in the Sky! that's a shame to hear! You're the only person I've seen act like that. In my older, child rearing age now, I keep a journal next to the play station to help remind me what i was doig and what i wanted to do.

the game is fairly fucken huge though. i know there are things that i haven't done (cause i've seen them on the internet) but i don't think i ever will... i struggle to be evil in games (or at all) so there are things i am sure i won't do

@TD honestly nah. try make your tortle dude (although no tortles) and maybe that'll help you there. What I did was start with githyanki cause i knew they were important in this game and heard they get more quests... but i have chopped and changed and starting again heaps. I am playing as Ben Zine to help plan out my gwdnd stuff now.

you can also change yoru characters stuff during the game, it's not a big deal.

many people spend more than 2 hours making a character. i'd just zip through it for the 2 hour factor.

I wish I had more interest in actually gaming in general. I love the chatter, I love the hype, the shows, the events, but when it comes down to playing games, I have trouble sticking with them. Even when I was younger I would often 85% finish games. I'd just quit on them near the end, not due to difficulty, just loss of interest. I used to enjoy slow burn games, now I just want to be entertained without too much thinking or strategy.

The idea of Baldur's Gate 3 is the game I should want to play more than anything, yet I can't stand to play it.

So what mods is everyone using? I have:

Party limit begone (easily my favorite one. You don't miss out on a single party interaction)
Bags bags bags
Weight limit over 9,000
Max level mod
Double exp mod to compensate for being able to hit level 20
Camp events notifications
Better loot

Finally made it to Act 3, enjoying the new area to explore

Some tough fucking fights too, even with extended party mod! Of course Im not as experienced with this type of game so Im sure I could do this with a party of 4 if I were more experienced, but I enjoy getting more story too
The party limit begone mod is fucking awesome. By far my favorite one.

Act 3 is not "bad" it's just sort of overwhelming at times. I have played both Divinities and what I noticed is that Larian can have trouble "landing the plane." E.g. sometimes they spend so much effort into the first parts that the last part feels rushed. Well, I don't think that is the case here.

I am replaying the game in HM and I have been admiring how well paced Act 1 and Act 2 are, and their total "things to do" length. Been wondering if Act 3 actually should have been two acts.

I have also seen some online chatter that perhaps Act 2 and Act 3 should have been switched around. Obviously a lot of things would need to be changed narratively. Maybe mostly this is because the Act 2 villain is more compelling than the Act 3 villains.

I will say I was shocked at Act 2, it felt kind of shorter than I expected and then when I got to the end of Act 2 I thought I was already in Act 3 like ended Act 2 and now at end of Act 3 with no time to do anything in between. I'll see how Act 3 wraps up, but yeah part of Act 2's end felt like an end of a game

You're not really supposed to engage with the enemies, you need to move through that battlefield and reach the portal. Globe of Invulnerability, gaseous form, greater invis, etc.

Like you didn’t do all the other quests available?

I thought I did a lot of them, like who was the person with the wings and their partner? in my camp, and I talked to them and thought I had done everything I needed for them, but I've seen videos of them being in the final battle.

I thought I would have had more than 2, must have been a lot more content that I missed that I didnt realize

Dame Aylin - you do get her to be around after what happens in Act 2, but did you go to the library and do everything in the tower?

What 2 allies do you have?
