Okay, so the other day an old woman came in and said she had a box of books in her car that she was donating to us but it was too heavy to carry, so I went out and brought them in for her. Then this morning our reference librarian was sorting through it and she said, "that woman wasn't lying, she really did have a big box!"

And I was just like "yeah, I guess she did!" Deciding it was better not to point out to her exactly what she just said. 😅

Okay so, not related to the bulletin board, but more library stuffs. A week or two ago I got this goomba plushie to keep at my desk in the public area just because I felt like it (I have two desks: one where I sit serving patrons who walk up needing help, and a private one in the staff area in the back).

Yesterday this asian lady walked in with her kids and walked past my desk on the way to the children's section, and her little toddler saw it and tugged on her arm to stop her and he was like "LOOK MOMMY, GOOMBA!!!!" I took it out and let him play with it and his mom is like thanks he is obsessed with Mario stuff. A few minutes later the boy ran back to my desk and gave me this:

So I probably violated ethics laws since we're not supposed to accept tips or gifts. Anyways, ignore this guy standing near the goomba, he's been here longer than I have:

That's one of my two Pokemon mugs by the way. I assume this guy is from Twilight? Even if it's not Edward. I say that because there is Twilight stuff all over the staff area (the branch manager and most of the staff are women). Like this hilarious one by the non-stink spray in the staff bathroom:

The "these puns are tearable" thing was my addition, I think I saw that on Vash's wall, posted by Ben? If I remember right. Anyway, here is my private desk in the back staff area. Enjoy looking for easter eggs.

I like it better thinking you're shirking your destiny, like a reluctant anime protagonist.

Seeing calls to adventure everywhere and just being all disgruntled about it.

Ooooooh I got the vision for this one in my head and I honestly think it will be one of my best ones yet. I got a pretty late start on it today and had to leave early so I barely did anything beyond taking the old one down and doing a light pencil scetch, but I'm hoping I'll be able to do the whole thing tomorrow despite having to leave for a couple of hours for the monthly Teen meeting at main branch. But man oh man I can't waaaaaait!! 😁😁😁

Just wait until you see what I have planned!

You like that last pun from me? I thought of it after deciding to use the Giving Tree. And I love how it all just came together and just made a lot of sense by using that famous books cover for arbor day, replacing the apple with a book, and how it speaks to the fact that for every book you hold, somewhere there is the stump of a tree that gave everything to make it, just like the tree in the story.

Lol yeah. The story behind that is I had started painting the g but realized a second too late that I was painting it on too close to the r and it was going to end up looking like "forgiving", so I tried to wipe it off as best I could.

The letters are actually brushed on with a regular artist brush, and I used a yard stick to make some light pencil lines to keep everything straight and level (measured either end from the top/bottom to keep them level).

I didn't mean to make two different font sizes but by the time I realized I had confused myself it was too late so I just rolled with it.

Normally I use the cricket but didn't feel like messing with it this time, and the color printer was down when I had started, but now I'm glad I went with painted-on instead.
