Acolytes game 2: day 6

Oh definitely. Maybe each player role has their own unique set of attributes like strength, dexterity, constitution, wisdom, intelligence and charisma, and some aren't better at certain things than others. Maybe they can even go to a location together in a party. šŸ¤”
Possibly something like that, I do want different roles to each have some kind of questing advantage as well. And I'm thinking of making a weapon or artifact for each questing zone designed to help in that area.

I don't want to make the D&Dish side of things TOO complicated though and get too far away from the wolf/mafia aspect of the game, but one thing I might do to achieve better balance besides simply making talismans and similar items rare or limited in quantity per game is to make them not available to randomly generate in the shop at all and can only be achieved through questing, but the quests-helping items can appear in the shop.

For example, you can buy the crossbow, then go use it at the sky tower and win a love potion or something.

I'll say I thought the same thing, that all items used during the day had to be done publicly. Being able to use shit in private when it's not for purposes of a quest certainly makes shit impossible to counter.

Oh well. We drug it out for far longer than we deserved, so gg Acolytes.

I may be in the minority here, but I like the idea of not knowing what others could or could not do. Keeping track of the items in store and noting if they have disappeared and what that could mean, could lead other to use something they have just encase and lead to craziness. As well as allow others to bluff at what they have. 1 acolyte buys a talisman but a other acolyte gets found out and lies that they have it. Kind of things. The draw back to the bounty hunter that was not seen sooner was that we were giving him money. Sure you may get a kill out of it, but it allowed him to buy stringer items that protected him, making him near invincible. This is something the merchant can pull off too. A weak character upfront, but late game with enough luck and item strategy could be pretty powerful.

This game becomes the more poker, there is strategy but at the end of the day, you play the odds and hope somebody doesn't show up with a better hand.

Also props to Jawneh for bluffing Zell into giving up his win.

I'm wondering if it would be too good for the acolytes for them to be able to trade stuff amongst them during the night. It makes sense, as they're doing their little congregation then, but balance wise idk if it's good or not.
 
I know Local or Benzine wanted to run a game next, but I will absolutely play the next Acolyte whenever that comes up. And a @VashTheStampede Mafia is in order soon.

I'm not starting yet that soon lol, I still have some work to do on it and I'm definitely down with playing other people's games in the meantime.

We let them do that in the first game, and the general feeling after that was it gave them too much of an advantage.

Jawneh convinced them that he drank an invisibility potion, when secretly he drank a love potion instead to make it so that Jon couldn't vote for him in the witch hunt. Zell gave up, thinking he had no chance. Jawneh killed shortkut at night, making it one V one which met his win condition.

I think next game I'm going to have fewer quest areas, like maybe eight at the most. There are going to be a few new ones and a few familiar ones. I'm going to try to make each game different and not use the same areas for every game.
As long as I can keep looking for the procession. They're family now.

The Cursed Ruins started to sound like I was in the wrong neighborhood every time I went there.

I figured I should make a new narrative for return visits. Usually the questing places are like "oh great it's this asshole again".
I understand. The ruins were getting sore from receiving my giant member every night.
 
I've had another thought about the talismans. Rather than just simply making them more rare and only appear in quests, I could also try Nerfing them. Rather than being a passive item that could be held in secret right up to the moment of execution, I could make it something the player has to publicly invoke with at least 6 hours left in the day phase, and it just makes them unable to die in the witch hunt that day. Basically deletes their name from the poll. Like "Ants! invokes his talisman!" And then I post saying he is protected from the witch hunt.
