The sky hasn't healed since the god stepped through.

The village is a flicker in the ruins — one stubborn flame where hope has not yet guttered out. Smoke still rises from the cities. The stars do not return. Most who survive now kneel or serve, their wills bent to the one who watches from beyond.

But not here.

Here, mages speak in hushed tones behind cellar doors. Old rituals are whispered through cracked lips. Scholars and holy men search ancient texts for a way to undo what was done — to send the god back into the dark.

And they are not alone.

The Acolytes have returned, hidden among the villagers. They smile. They listen. They whisper doubts and feed paranoia. Their task is simple: learn what the villagers know — and stop them before it's too late.

The villagers are not strong. They are not safe.
But they are not ready to give up.

BULLETIN BOARD:

BOUNTY NOTICE

Target:
Jon
Allegiance: Unknown
Charges: Walked with the Silent Dead. Marked by unseen hands. The village demands answers.

Reward: 10 Gold
Posted By: The Board Itself

Let the brave or the damned claim what fate has delivered.

BOUNTY NOTICE

Target:
Tommy Boy
Reason: "He knows what he did."
Posted By: Ben (who is absolutely over it)
Reward: 15 Gold, paid in full and with petty satisfaction.

No refunds. No questions. Just vibes.

Target: canadaguy
Reason: Recently revealed as the Fanatic, and frankly? Just kind of annoying.
Posted By: Ben (who regrets everything)
Reward: 16 Gold — that's one more than the last guy. Do the math.

Note: Previous bounty on Tommy Boy still technically stands because of "rules" or whatever. But let's be honest — priorities change.

Payment in full upon confirmed un-aliving.
May include a bonus if it's particularly satisfying.

The game began with 4 Acolytes, 1 violent solo, 1 non-violent solo, 1 clairvoyant on the village team, and 9 other villagers. There is no set amount of strong villagers, the limitation is there can not be more than 1 of each (for example, there can't be two Mages). So the number of strong villagers can be anywhere from 1 to 6.

Minimum to witch hunt is 1/2 of the living players, odd numbers are rounded down.

The air hangs thick with sorrow and smoke. A bitter wind coils through the village, laced with something darker. Poison. Vengeance. And the echoes of defiance.

Somehow, against all odds, Fools Requiem staggers into the square. His armor is cracked, one arm clutched to his side, blood still fresh beneath his breastplate — but he is alive. The Paladin has returned from the dead, his light dimmed but not extinguished.

Not all were so fortunate.

A sickly green haze still lingers at the edge of town, where the smithy once stood proud. Quagmire, the Blacksmith, was found slumped beside his forge, froth at his lips. The stench was unmistakable: a poisonous miasma — unleashed with cruel precision. His tools now lie idle. His craft, silenced forever.

Elsewhere, death came swift and sharp.
In the night, Smacktard, the Warrior, was slain — the victim of a silent blade in the dark. But the assassin's kill was no clean thing. With his final breath, rage boiling in his chest, Smacktard lunged and struck down Christina, the Monk, who crumpled to the ground beside him. The two now lie cold, their blood mingling at the village's heart.

Three more are gone.
One has returned.
The fire burns low.

The witch hunt may begin.

Paladin
strong role (limit: 1)
+3 at Cursed Ruins, -1 at Labyrinth
Can defend, destroy evil, or revive, but must pick only two once the role is assigned to you. Defend protects a player at night from acolytes or solo killers. Destroy evil attacks a player during the day with light that will destroy an acolyte or a wight, or rebound upon the paladin and kill them if used on a player that is on the Village or Solo team. Revive can bring one player back from the dead (selection is made at night). Revive and destroy evil are a one-time use and count as holy magic, which can't be influenced by Acolyte abilities. See General Rules on Revive and Protection.
who wants to guess which second ability I chose?

I was muted by dimmerwit yesterday, confirmed through my quest which revealed who targeted me. But then he had to go and get randomly killed so I'm left wanting for revenge.

So today I'm coming out swinging.

@Ants! Ben throws spear at Local Hero.

I'm also putting a bounty up myself on Tommy Boy.

Yeah maybe we should have just lynched he assassin yesterday so we wouldn't have had a guaranteed death from him.
Well, he's going to kill me tonight because my name is going to be wanted.

In my quest yesterday, I was rewarded with an option to be immune from targeting last night, but my name is wanted today. I was hoping the acolytes would attack me and waste their kill.

My third suspicion is Jawneh.

I don't believe any villager is out here trading gold between each other so readily. That was the acolyte approach last time, so Local and Tommy doing it seems suspect.

And I don't trust Jawneh's warrior "I want to die" claim. Seems like his usual flim-flam obfuscation.

Also Zell already has a bounty posted on Tommy, by Ben. So he's not going a night without a kill.
Well he'll have me and Tommy then.

For what it's worth, my role is overall useless. I've had more luck in quests to be relevant.

I'm a graverobber. I'd like to not die for numbers sake, but I also don't have any way to prove it. I have only assisted the town though, so hoping that buys me good will.

Quagmire was a saint. Not literally, but in my heart.

You're with heaven's geese now.

As the village seethes with suspicion and silence, Ben steps forward, his eyes fixed on Local Hero, who stands tall in dented armor, the ever-steady Knight among them.

Ben doesn't speak.
He doesn't plead.
He hurls a spear with sudden, brutal precision.

The weapon sails through the morning air — a silver arc of accusation made steel — and strikes Local Hero square in the chest. His shield barely rises in time. The blow knocks him back, staggering.

For a moment, it seems he might endure it.

But the crack in his armor was already there. The wound beneath, already deepened. The Knight drops to his knees, a look of stunned betrayal frozen on his face.

He falls.
And this time, there is no one left to guard him.

Local Hero, the Knight, is dead.
