I had forgotten all this was going on. I've missed out on all of it and I normally watch at least a few of the streams or videos. Welp. Currently the most interesting things for me are the 007 game and potentially Moonlighter 2. Some of the good feels games looked neat too.

About 007. I had to double check to see that this is the title IOI games is making and it's supposed to be similar to Hitman games. Which I love. It may be a day 1 pick for me if it doesn't look like they're making it horrible. We shall see.

between the marvel fighting game coming out nexzt year, and the invincible one coming out.....I'm gonna end up getting into fighting games next year aren't I?..............
Now is probably the best time to get into fighting games. KoF and Street Fighter are doing crossovers. Fatal Fury is finally back. Capcom came out with two massive collections in the last year of their classic games. The Killer Instinct guys are going an Invincible game. Guilty Gear Strive is still getting updates. Tekken 8 got a major update. Fighting games on Steam go on sale ALL THE TIME. GranBlue Fantasy Verses Rising is playable for free (they rotate playable characters). There are a shitton of quality fighting games on Steam for cheap. Evo had an AMAZING tournament last year. It's probably only a matter of time before Nintendo announces a new Smash Bros game for Switch 2. Sony is releasing a first party arcade stick. Solid wireless fight sticks are READILY available. Digital Eclipse announced a Mortal Kombat collection featuring almost every MK game from the 90s, including the janky ass Gameboy ports.

The only things missing is a Dead or Alive and Soul Calibur game.

This is probably the strongest the fighting game genre has ever been. Definitely the strongest since the 90s.

Im very interested to see what they do with 007. Not sure how it could be similar to Hitman as James Bond doesnt hide himself, though I guess if it is an origin story perhaps you can have him do more stealth early in his career. I just want multiple ways to tackle objectives. Mix in some of Freedom Fighters from the OG Xbox days (and MGS3) where you do some action in one area and it makes things easier later on (or harder though I dont think either of those games had negative consequences but its been a long time)

Gears of War helped ruin an entire generation of video games, both from its cover mechanics that EVERY third person shooter just HAD to have, and the excessive ugly grays and browns that became a standard in that generation.

Also, I already have two versions of the first game on two generations of consoles, I don't need another.
How pervasive were the TPS cover mechanics though, and as a result of GoW? Uncharted also has cover mechanics, but I can't think of much else. And they both released around the same time.
the excessive ugly grays and browns that became a standard in that generation.
I also don't think GoW is totally to blame for this. Resistance released the same time and suffered from brown/grey art-rot. I feel like it's more of a generational issue for the PS3/360 "mature gamer" era than something that can be attributed entirely to GoW.

Tbf, Bond is a secret agent and should be more stealthy than gun blasting. All the Bond games have muddled that for sure. The movies are better where at least he takes his time infiltrating and gathering intel on scene before it turns into an inevitable fight.

But yeah. It definitely can't be just "another hitman game" but if you take the mechanics they created and turn those into something more Bond flavored, it should be a great game.

.... although, what's the difference between what a hitman and a secret agent does? Or between 47 and Bond. Bond fucks more? Or maybe 47 does, but off the clock. Idk man.

Bond does fuck more, but everyone also knows who he is. He is so famous.

Bond is not a good spy, but I think him being a "spy" is counter intuitive to his process. He makes it clear he is involved on purpose. He wants people to be uncomfortable and frantic so that they make stupid mistakes trying to best the great James Bond.

He is has been shown to be good at stealth when the moment calls for it.

The N64 Mission Impossible game was the way you describe a Bond game should be. Man, if only it had better controls and has fixed a few other issues, it would've been a legendary game.

...I think. Maybe rose-colored glasses over here.

I think you're right. I think of that came fairly fondly too, but I think it also had tank controls so... there goes that. Surprisingly difficult game too at higher difficulties.
