If Link speaks, that's a dealbreaker out of the gate.

Gotta say I'm more partial to something colorful and whimsical, like Wind Waker, and would probably just altogether pass on yet another LotR/GoT/grimdark fantasy fest. Though I do still need to see the Mario movie and second Sonic movie, so my track record for recent-ish video game adaptations isn't stellar regardless. :chuckle

It'd be funny if they made it without Link at all and made Zelda the main character.
Well they refuse to let us play as her in the games for a change, so... yes, please!

Let Link be the sidekick or one in need of saving for a change. He could use the break, anyway. :tease

I still need to see Mario, too. I don't see how Zelda would make a good movie, but I don't see how Mario would either and it seems like they figured that out.

One of Mario’s strength is the strong cast. Chris Pratt as Mario and Charlie Day as Luigi was awesome.

If it were me, I'd have him sleep through the whole thing and wake up at the very end as everyone is celebrating Zelda saving the world.

You're really not missing much, it looks good but thats about it, jokes are over done and obvious and it's pacing is weird. Its fine for kids, but very safe, and very miniony which shouldnt be shocking given the studio that did it. Im kind of surprised by how much praise it has gotten

Is it getting praised as a good movie, or as a good video game movie? 'Cause the latter is definitely still an infinitely lower bar. :chuckle

Detective Pikachu, for example, was not a particularly good movie. But I did enjoy seeing the more realistic, non-creepy takes on the Pokemon themselves, and the narrative was fine if predictable and overdone. So as a video game movie that was pretty great!

I thought the Mario Movie kind of sucked so I'm glad they're not going for the same visual style and stuff. The Mario Movie was fun in the sense that it's just a bunch of easter eggs meant to make fans point at them in their head and be like "I know that!" but that's like ALL the movie is.

Vastly inferior to that live action one where bowser was just some guy with sick hair.

With a live action Zelda movie I'm not even sure what I want. I'm a hardcore Zelda fan and I seriously doubt they're going to be able to do the series justice. I'm guessing they're just going to make their own version of Ocarina of Time with a lot of the story beats done in rapid succession (sort of like how the Zelda manga tell their stories).
