VoIP options?

Skype is ded, Zadarma suxdix, everything else has monthly subscriptions.

Does anyone use a VoIP that's pay-per-use? I want to be able to call the US or Benzine in NZ and call him a cunt or Ethiopia or whatever.

They killed Skype's only redeeming quality, so now I'm stuck.

Honestly I just use Discord, Whatsapp or Facebook Messenger to do that.

Yeah I need a landline VoIP. Can you use FB Messenger to do that? And I thought WhatsApp was only for other WhatsApp numbers?

I was talking more generally about internet calls. I personally don't really have a need for a landline VoIP or number support.

I find free providers have always tended to be more country specific. My mum uses Sipgate which is PAYG but only operates in the UK and Germany and even then they don't do the PAYG plan any more so she's grandfathered in. All of the UK alternatives I know tend to be pay monthy too. It seems competitive pressure from those Whataspp/FB services have pushed the industry that way in recent years.

Weirdly I used to use Google for this, which was completely free at the time, but that was a long time ago. A quick search suggests they may still offer something, but I'm not sure if it works for international calls. I wouldn't use it for anything where you're concerned about privacy, but it'd be fine for calling Benzine a cunt.

Alternatively, maybe look into what it'd cost to use your phone? A quick call to tell Benzine he's a cunt should be pretty cheap nowadays (at least it is on my plan).

Yeah, seems Google Voice is the standard VoIP these days, with 1Voip being the alternative, but pricey.
