One time I was interviewing an intern candidate at my old company. She had previous experience working as an intern at the Boston aquarium and specifically with the penguins. I was excited to ask about that.

When it came time to ask, all I said was "so...tell me about the penguins."

She got very excited and talked about their personalities and what it was like working with them, and then went beyond to say what she learned from doing it and how it could help with any job.

So... tell me about the penguin personalities.

People who are around smells a lot can become used to them, too. People who work at waste water treatment plants will also tell you they don't stink.

it's definitely possible, but nothing else at the zoo I visited smelled anywhere as bad as the penguin exhibit

I can also see how some will smell better than others simply because of how they're cared for, just like a dirty wet dog and a clean wet dog. But, penguins in the wild aren't exactly doing heavy maintenance that would guarantee they don't smell, outside of jumping into the water on occasion.

And again, I mentioned a scene from the show that I shared a brief clip from an anime called "A Place Further than the Universe" where a girl is surrounded by penguins in the wild in Antarctica and talking about how she's happy, but that they also stink.

Any animal in captivity will smell bad if you don't clean up after them enough, even humans. I do be koalas might be the exception. I've heard the ones out in the wild are gross.
