I know Apple TV is like the lowest viewed streaming service but they have very good shows between Ted Lasso (though that's done now), Shrinking, and this

Some questions that were left over from the first episode were answered first that it has not been five months is the MDR and it has really only been a few days. and that Irving and Dylan were fired and they didn't choose to not come back. there's still a bunch of questions like who or what the board is or if Helena is pretending to be Helly. or what is up with the goats. it wa[s still a good episode and I look forward to the next one.SPOILER]

I have no idea what is happening in this show anymore they are doing things way earlier than I think anyone thought that they would. first with Mark's reintegration last episode that people thought would be either later this season or even in a future season. and now revealing that Helena has been undercover as Helly ever since this season started. now that is something a lot of people predicted but I didn't think it would be revealed this soon. now Irving has been fired for trying to murder Helena. I have no idea what the rest of this season is gonna be now.

Lumon put four people (well, apparently three) who had never been outside into the freezing wilderness?? WTF are they thinking? Irving 100% would've frozen to death IRL. I spent most of the episode convinced it was some wild VR simulation. But no, it seems legit?

The family room where they really let Dylan meet his wife was also unexpected. I was sure that would be a carrot that he was perpetually teased with, or they'd hire an actress to pretend to be his wife. It's not like he'd know otherwise, right? But no, they really brought his wife in for him.

I didn't watch Westworld so I can't comment on that, but I agree that I'm enjoying the confusion. Every episode, my reaction is "what is happening?!" but it's in a good way.

she did mention his wife in a sort of "are you sure you wanna be with me when your outie is looking for his wife?" way, but his innie will only care so much about that.

I think she likes that Mark doesn't know anything about the outside world and who she normally has to be. That he only cares about how she is with him. Maybe Helena is really tired of the expectations of the world. She was clearly fascinated with Helly kissing Mark. At first I thought she was disturbed, but maybe she's jealous in a way? Maybe she wants that for herself. I expect it'll come to a head shortly.

Also how did they the have an episode with Mark being reintegrated, then the next episode the only acknowledgement of that happening is a quick glimpse of his wife?!

I feel like Lumon is playing chess and they're three moves ahead of us.

A friend of mine thinks it's a project to revive people from the dead. That's why Mark's dead wife is there - she really did die and they revived her somehow, and Mark is working on something to help that process (to restore memories maybe?). That's why it has to be Mark, because he was married to her and knew her well. It could explain Harmony's weirdness too: she seems to have lost a loved one and maybe she hopes Lumen can bring that person back. It also lines up with the executives commenting that the work will rock the world.

It doesn't explain everything (What about the rest of MDR? Why not just tell Mark what they're doing? He'd obviously help.), and idk if I believe it, but it's an interesting theory.

I have too much to say about this show and I know I'm forgetting stuff, but I'll just rattle off things I keep thinking about through watching. Forgetting a ton of stuff, this is just at the top of my head. This is heavily spoiler ridden if not caught up.

• Spoiler: Severance Spoilers

  • I agree with the revival of the dead theory, but I don't think it's fully dead people. Maybe brain dead - involved in an accident, etc; But some way that Lumon was able to jam a chip into a brain dead body and turn it on to see what happens, and it worked - albeit full of problems most likely. This is why I think MDR is refining the chips for people without outies. Mark has a connection to Gemma because she was his wife. The "scary numbers", in my opinion, indicate a memory or synapse imprint. MDR is clearing these memories from the braindead innies so they don't experience reintegration sickness.
  • This all is solely to revive Kier Eagan. I assume that the board is collectively inside either Jame Eagan's head, or some sort of prototype inside Natalie. The "revolving" most certainly means Helena must donate her body to this process of changing of the guard. However, Jame's very outdated lexicon makes me believe his consciousness is older than everyone else.
  • The goats are going to be a big plot point, but right now I have a soft theory that this is where they put chips before OR after a severance procedure. Either to prep the chips for being put into a brain, or to host whatever imprinted onto the chip after severance. (Retirements, maybe?)
  • Burt may never have been severed, knowing he's been with Lumon for 20 years. It's possible he has had the primitive form of severance done, before the chip was available, but I'm leaning more towards Burt is in upper management and was unsevered working in O&D.
  • Dylan's wife and iDylan are totally going to try to make iDylan be the primary, and lock oDylan out from his life. This is why I think rather than "lights out" for the outie when this happens, they do something with the outie consciousness somewhere else. (Testing floor?)
  • Teeth. My god, teeth are everywhere. The season 1 photos of smiles everywhere. Dylan biting Milchick only for Milchick to compliment his incisors later. Helly mentioning she has bad enamel on her teeth. The exports guy coming for the dental equipment. Are they severing people under the guise of dental care? A quick nitrous session and boop, severed without knowing? Maybe, not so sure on this, but teeth are important.
  • There is no "Dieter Egan". Kier did not have a twin. This is the first time Kier came up with the idea of severance - he was ashamed of fapping in the woods and rather than own it, he likely went into some form of psychosis to separate the personalities. This was the first severance. Dieter is Kier. Kier is Dieter.
  • Ms. Huang is still questionable. Clearly she is working at Lumon for some type of credit at the Eagan School for Girls, but wtf is Wintertide and why would a child have any reason to be on the severed floor?
  • Something is up with Cobel and getting freaked out by hearing about a "reset". I didn't think Cobel was severed because of all the indications we see that she is not, but I also am starting to believe in the "permanent innie theory" - where if you devote yourself to Kier, then they offer your innie to take over. An offer Dylan might get - an offer Cobel, Natalie, and Milchick may have even taken already.
  • Drummond had the keys to Irving's house AND army chest. Lumon potentially making key copies while people are at work?

I never even considered that possibility about Burt. What an interesting idea. It'd explain a lot for sure.

Your theory about Dieter also makes as much sense as anything else.

I've heard about the permanent innie theory too. At first I scoffed at it, but after what happened with Dylan last episode, it does feel like it's going that way. If Lumon can also undo it at any time, then it'd certainly give them a lot of leverage over those people. Dylan would 100% jump at the chance IMO.

Severance is making it even harder for me to come up with a theory. every time I think i know what’s about to come they do something that completely changes my expectations.

Completely agree that Severance is good at keeping us guessing. I still don't quite know what to make of Helena. At first I couldn't decide if it was really Helly or Helena. At first I was sure it was Helena, then I became completely convinced she was Helly just before it was proven otherwise. And with this latest weirdness? Is Helena legit into Mark or is it all a ploy? How does she really feel about all this? I think she's going to betray her family and company to help Mark eventually.

what a beautiful painful episode that was. I kind of figured we were gonna get a flashback episode with how the last episode ended and this didn't disappoint. poor Gemma came so close to getting out and then of course Milcheck had to show up. Also I wonder is Gemma the only one in this basement area? we know she's essential to whatever Lumon is doing but how? what are these rooms she's going into? we never see anyone else going in these rooms besides Lumon employees and Gmma so is she the only one down here now? have they trie this with anyone else? have they tested other people in this basement and Gemma is the only one thats surviving the rooms or something?
