I have something like this.

By far the best way to microwave popcorn. Sure, it's not as easy as tossing a bag into the microwave, but it's soooo much better and still a lot faster than doing it on the stove. Also, bagged popcorn is super unhealthy.

I've never owned a hot air popper so I can't tell you if one product cooks popcorn better than the other. However, these popcorn bowl things can be used in the microwave and dishwasher, and will not take up much space in your cupboards because they can be folded/collapsed. Since just about everyone who has a roof over their head has a microwave, the bowls are suuuuuper convenient and soooo much better for you than bagged popcorn.
