Who were your celebrity childhood crushes?

A few people mentioned Michelle Trachtenberg as one of their early celebrity crushes in the thread about her. So thought I might as well make a thread for that. Who were your celebrity childhood crushes?

I think my first was Amy Jo Johnson, the Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger. Then a few years later it was Anna Kournikova, before Sarah Michelle Gellar just became my definitive celebrity childhood crush. Not just because I'm a massive Buffy fan, but when you combine Buffy with Cruel Intentions there's really only one outcome there.

There have obviously been other celebrities that I've been attracted to. Never any shortage of hot celebrities, particularly in the late 90s and early 00s. I did look up a millennial childhood crushes list, there were some good options like Kelly Kapowski, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Denise Richards. You've then obviously got the likes of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. As a big Starship Troopers fan, I will admit that Denise Richards comes very close to the top three. But the first three jump out as my notable crushes. I think the likes of Keira Knightly and Natalie Portman aren't really childhood anymore.

Over to you guys.

Honestly I never really had any, I always felt like they were unattainable, in another world, so my brain sort of segmented them as not real people to me. I had a lot of crushes, a LOT of crushes, but none of them of the celebrity variety. I did get the pink ranger thing for a bit, but it was more of an envy and less of a crush.

I'd have put Michelle Trachtenberg at the bottom of the Buffy list, personally. Probably because her character often seemed annoying, perhaps purposefully as "the little sister". But Alyson Hannigan and Eliza Dushku were up there. Charisma Carpenter, too. Sarah Michelle Geller is nothing to scoff at, I just always like Willow and Faith more.

First crush? If assuming stuff from after I was born, probably Geri Halliwell a.k.a. Ginger Spice. I at least fully blame her for me liking big titties. I'm assuming her first because that was 1994.

Starship Troopers wasn't playing fair. Denise Richards was definitely cute. Dina Meyer (Dizzy) too. I say it wasn't playing fair because of the co-ed shower scene.

I cannot honestly remember when the first time I watched Weird Science was, but Kelly LeBrock was certainly up there on my list. That was a 1985 movie, so a few years before I was even born.

Hell, even Barbara Windsor in the Carry On films jumps to mind. Those were what, late 60s?

I made a list of this back when I blogged on Xanga!
I can't remember who all was on it but Willow from Buffy was 100% one of them. I just love gingers lol

I think Reese Witherspoon was as well

But my one love is Summer Glau

Her and Mila Jovavich in The Fifth Element are probably what doomed me to gingers. Sure, Eliza Dushku and Michelle Trachtenberg and Sarah Michelle Gellar were/are all beautiful, but they rounded out the range just right adding a ginger.

For me, growing up, it was the aforementioned ladies along with Jessica Alba (Idle Hands, Dark Angel, c’mon!), Christina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), and Shakira (on mute, I’m not much for Colombian yodeling) for honorable mention. I can’t think of any others off the top of my head, so I’m gonna read through the thread again and see if anyone else comes to mind.

Edit - Amy Jo Johnson. Goddamnit. I’m a real dumbass for forgetting her.

Anyone who says they hadn't fapped to Starship Troopers about a thousand times is a goddamned liar.

Oh yeah, Elvira would be on my list...

Agreed. Too bad for us: she is gay.

Also, I read how before she came out she kept getting harassed by perverted old men at conventions and stuff. Which is shitty, but I think I also can't completely 100% blame them for making the assumption that she was a very intentional sex symbol.

my favorite punishment from impractical jokers was when they had Murray dress in a speedo and get greased up, thinking he was going to pose with a bunch of bodybuilders, but instead he walked into a room and found his childhood celebrity crush, Danica McKellar from The Wonder Years, waiting to be interviewed by him. They made him ask her humiliating questions and say things like "what's with all the pictures of you by my bed?" And then do squats in front of her, and at one point Sal says "look at his nipples, his nipples are so hard!!"

She was giving him this incredulous look the entire time like he was a freak, but then at the end when he was finally allowed to leave in shame and closed the door she asked allowed "can I laugh now?"

🤣

I remember that episode, and she’s another that still looks damn good. Here’s one for you from a similar time frame… Phoebe Cates. It’s crazy to think the same little girl from Drop Dead Fred ended up doing that scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Google tells me she’s 61 now. Goddamn.

Yeah that's true about Danica, I follow her on Facebook and not only is she super attractive but she's an all around great person.

Also Fast Times at Ridgemont High was fun too.

How about Wednesday Adams played by Christina Ricci?
Had to look that up to make sure you weren't talking about the Wednesday Adams from the current show.

There's a lot of creepy dudes online talking about her which...okay yeah the actress is an adult, but she plays a teenager, so still kinda ick.

Wednesday Addams is a mood.

Also, I love Rotten Tomatoes' critic concensus write up: "Wednesday isn't exactly full of woe for viewers, but without Jenna Ortega in the lead, this Addams Family-adjacent series might as well be another CW drama."

I mean, yeah... of you remove the character that makes something special, it stops being special. Wednesday Addams is supposed to be put in typical "fish out of water" scenarios and you're supposed to watch as she subverts the trope by being Wednesday Addams. She's not locked in with you, you locked in with her.

Imagine Wednesday Addams in the Gilmore Girls. INSTANT CLASSIC.

Fair and not fair. I think it is more of a there isnt much to the show other than one person worth watching and that is how you can sometimes stack up against the greats. My first three shows that came to my mind were Modern Family, Malcolm in the Middle and Scrubs. For me the whole ensemble were fantastic and an episode without one the mains could still be great

Yeah I really struggle to watch shows with teen characters anymore just because I know they aren't under-age actually but yes, definitely ICK for me. Even though I know back then we were that age, we were also doing some of those things so it's just normal but yeah ICK.

My final picks:
Lucy Lawless as Xena, Warrior Princess
The cast of The Mummy
And finally, Rachel from Animorphs -- not the actress that played her in the TV series, just her character from the books.

I believe I had a crush on almost anyone as long as they had boobs. Or just pubescent hormones going wild. Same difference?

So I don't think there was anyone specifically I crushed on. There were and are many pretty ladies in the world.
