You may not have an official one, but what are some things you want to do?

Man… that’s a good question, and one I’ve never really thought of because like so many people, I find myself just getting through the days instead of doing fun stuff.

I’ve always wanted to build a guitar from scratch. I’ve watched so many videos of luthiers crafting guitars over the years, and I’m fairly handy myself… so I’ve always wanted to see if I could build one from scratch. I’ve rebuilt one of my guitars, and had a lot of fun doing it. I like taking things apart and fixing them, and by extension… creating and building things.

I also want to have a project car. Just something to get stoned and tinker around with. I could never be an occupational mechanic, I’m neither talented enough or enjoy it enough, but, this circles back to enjoying fixing/building stuff. It’s a gratifying feeling restoring something or making it perform better.

Beyond things I can do at home or in a garage, I’ve always wanted to see more of the world. My ancestors are from Ireland, and my family (Donegan, over in Ireland, spelled differently here) was apparently a big family over there. I’d also like to see a lot of European and Asian countries, but I’m not really confident enough in my worldly abilities to be able to manage somewhere with a language barrier. For fucks sake… there are Americans that have a hard time understanding my accent.

What GIF

For me, a certain surgery I'll never be able to afford, going home to visit family, and just finding a place in life to fit in.

Lotta people don’t get the Baltimore accent, and if I’m casually speaking I’m not aware of it. Thankfully, I can make a conscious effort to pronounce everything properly, but it still bleeds through with some words. “Water vs. Wooder” is the most common example.

Ah, so Baltimore is America's Geordie. Got it!

I have a few things I want to do, apart from the stuff in my signature.
  • Do an overnight dogsled camping trip in Finland in the winter
  • Stay in an ice hotel
  • Swim with the stingless jellyfish in Palau
  • Trek to see Mountain Gorillas
  • Visit the inside of Lechuguilla cave (impossible)
  • See orangutans in the wild
  • Witness the great migration
  • Travel to the moon (never ever)

I've always wanted to do this too, but I suspect it would just sit in parts in my garage like most things I attempt to tinker with.

See the aurora borealis
I recently learned it doesn't look at all like you'd expect! Pictures are all long exposures and to the naked eye, it kinda just looks like clouds. It's not bright green or purple or shimmery. It's all a lie!

Getting a pilot's license is still on my list, even though I've spent more time and money on training than most people do to get licensed and haven't gotten very far. I think I need a break from work so my brain can actually absorb information.

My latest addition is to go to the Luminous Lagoon in Jamaica. It has bioluminescent creatures in it that light up when you move around. Also on the list, and should probably be accomplished first, is to learn to swim. I want to go scuba diving, too.

I was recently able to check off "watch the peak of the perseid meteor shower", although I'd like to do it again somewhere darker and a short walk from a bed so I could watch it longer and see more. It was still a rush, though.

When my wife and I went to Jamaica in June, we went there. Absolutely amazing experience, never experienced anything like it.

We bought pictures they took (really hard to take your own), they don't capture how amazing it was but it was nice to get the pictures regardless.
My co-worker went recently and it sounds incredible. I was going to post a picture from their website but they're oddly all terrible. There are a bunch on Google maps though if anyone is curious.
