I figure we don't need new threads for them individually, so... yeah!

August 17th for Red Dead Redemption, November 10th for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

This is not the form people wanted RDR "Remastered" to take, I'm sure, but it's what you're getting. It appears to not be getting an Xbox One port specifically because the original X360 version is backwards compatible.

Rockstar shit the bed with this move… they should have just held off for a remastered version of RDR and dropped it on ALL platforms if they planned on charging that much for a game that old. Considering their moves with the GTA trilogy, I’m not surprised. I think that they could’ve cut the price $20 and STILL move more units doing it that way.

As far as CoD… whatever. There’s a ton of teenagers in JROTC and people tapped into the nostalgia of that franchise to keep them afloat for the foreseeable future, so my opinion is a drop in the bucket.

After the resounding failure of the GTA trilogy collection being a port, you think they would have learned the difference. They just don't care anymore. They're mopping up the floor with shark cards day in and day out. The let a great game like RDR2 fucking.....DIE, just for GTA to continue taking people's money. I'm not buying a single thing from them until GTA 6.

…which is when the cycle will begin anew, and suddenly Shark cards will be replaced with whatever new online currency is in the works. They could have done SO much with RDR2, offline and online. Correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t there zero offline additions to RDR2? At least they ported the cars available online over to the offline game for GTAV for a stretch. There’s no real excuse for why they didn’t build onto RDR2, they just didn’t give a fuck, which is what they’ve struggled with for years. That’s why we never saw Bully 2 or Manhunt 2, or any remasters of the originals, they were too busy bleeding their big hits dry.

You're correct. They released RDO and then watched it slowly die. Never tried adding shit to the singleplayer at all - had such DLC potential. A huge, open world with so much life - left to waste.

Considering it's Take-Two, this honestly just screams "why not both" to me. :chuckle

I don't think they'll remotely reconsider their ways until/unless GTA Online falters, or if GTA6 releases with its own independent online mode and somehow craters them both. Which may well be why this port isn't including the online mode and they never did anything with RDR2; they don't want to prematurely rock the boat.

And the crazy part to me was that it was such a BETTER world than GTAV, if I had to choose one. Nah, it wasn’t a sprawling metropolis, but we’ve seen enough of those. There was something very appealing about the sheer scale of RDR2 and how you could walk for 30 minutes in a straight line into the woods and see nothing out of the ordinary, and then suddenly there’s some random encounter or Easter egg. You expected there to be stuff at every turn in Los Santos, but more often than not… it was very repetitive and there were plenty of quiet spaces in areas that certainly should not have been. You actually felt like you were exploring in RDR2.

I’d agree with this more if there wasn’t so much time in between releases… if they had intended for there to be DLC, they would have at the minimum had a schedule that shifted their focus to DLC immediately after release, or at least had it penciled in to revisit. I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t plan any at all from the start, and just used RDR2 as a proving ground for new technology and design much like they used other games in the past. Prime example? The combat/cover system from Max Payne 3 could have been lifted for both GTAV and RDR2 as similar as they are.

Hey, good(-ish) news for anyone with poor impulse control! :tease

Looks like the PS4 version got 60 FPS support via a patch this week, completely at random. Good-ish because it doesn't apply to base PS4 nor PS4 Pro, only PS5. lol
