What are points? Do they impact the reaction score at all? Are points more or less forum achievements, while reaction score is more of a community rating system?

Points are automated clout, reaction scores are ones where you need to convince people to like you.

@Ben got bored and has started reworking some of those, since most of them I left on their default settings since no one was really attentive to them at the time. Badges were the “it” thing y’all wanted.

Points are for earning trophies (not to be confused with badges) which you get for doing various things around the forums. Reaction score is just us spamming like, like, like!

I wanted to drive a little more engagement by adding more tiers for post count, reaction score, etc.

Main non-generic ones I recall adding last night were a trophy for registering 365 days ago, and one for turning on multi-factor authentication on your account.

Edit: Oh, two minor D&D ones for linking a character sheet and for rolling 500 dice.

To be more specific,

Points/trophies are as you said, basically forum achievements. They're automatically awarded when you hit various milestones.

This is what was being updated and everyone probably got a flood of notifications for last night.




Badges have no 'score' beyond just the number you have, although there are a few trophies for the number of acquired badges.



Reaction score is calculated off of the things people flag on your posts under the 'like' drop-down. They did get a minor update yesterday in that I changed the 'mad' and 'sad' reacts to not hold a negative point value, so your post getting one of those won't reduce your score. The only one that has negative weight now is the actual 'disagree' one. All others will increase the score.




These are of course tracked separately on the members page. Cole is always going to be stuck at the top spot for trophies since he was bumped by 1,000,000 early on, but I did lower the bump for the 'administrator' trophy so the rest of the spots aren't taken up by the other three admins by default.
