I was thinking of something. Basketball, Football (American), and Baseball all play a LOT differently than they did in the 90s. So, how would the game play if you built rosters and played in matches like pros would play in sports today. Games are played more today with efficiency in mind.
Basketball - Focus on threes, speed, and athleticism instead of dunks.
Baseball - Power/launch angle and OBP over BA on offense, as well as striking out instead of playing for contact. Spin rate on pitching instead of pure power throwing.
Football - Short throws that rely on yards after the catch as opposed to running the ball 30+ times and inefficient deep passes.
Thinking like playing NBA Jam and focusing on shooting loads of 3s instead going for flashy dunks.
Can older sports games be played like that, and can you succeed doing that?
I did try throwing more curves and sliders on Nintendo's Baseball game for the Gameboy and scored a lot of strikeouts, but they were still able to score, whereas I couldn't get a base runner beyond first on offense (I'm bad).
