I have flights on hold to finally go to Europe!

We're spending a day in Madrid (overnight layover)

Then going to be in Sicily for Pistachio Fest

Then we have a day in London (again, overnight layover)

Also have a short layover at JFK and I'm going to do my damnest to grab a slice from Artichoke.

I welcome any and all suggestions for all those destinations!

Sadly I never visit Europe outside of living in Finland. I've had layovers in Paris and Iceland, but only for so many hours before flying onward.

Hope you enjoy your time!

Good question! When I'm somewhere new, I like to try the local cuisine and experience the uniqueness of the location. I'm not big on Museums or history but also not opposed to them depending on the subject. I'm thinking maybe finding a place to have high tea? 😅
I think you're the first American to come to the UK and want to try the food!

High/afternoon tea places are everywhere in London. There are some very high end ones like at Fortnum & Mason if you like burning money, but there are more options than you could count.

We do have some good museums like the British Museum or the National Gallery, and a fair few of them are free. That said, somewhere like the Tower of London might be better since that's an experience you can't get in America. I'm just realising that I don't really know what I'd suggest to a tourist! :ROFLMAO:

I have heard not great things about food over there lol but I can't say I went and didn't try anything!

Tower of London has been added to the list.

Is there a part of town that you recommend we stay in? We're landing in Gatwick but then flying out of Heathrow the next day.
