Liquid Death and Sparkling Waters

Can I shill for a bit? I love that Liquid Death exists. I've never liked sparking waters, carbonated waters, tonics, etc. Even when "flavors" are added, I couldn't like them. I only ever used sparkling water to turn a glass of Tang into a makeshift orange soda that I could control the sweetness of. Almost all "flavored" sparkinging waters just tasted like weird tasting fizzy water, so I couldn't get to liking them.

What also sucked about so called "sugar free" sodas and lightly sweetened sodas/drinks were that they always had an artificial sweetener that ruins the flavor (all I taste in Diet Mountain Dew js the aspartame. Not to mention the issues with artificial sweeteners.

Then I find out about Liquid Death. Instead of just adding sugar or artificial sweetener to enhance the flavor, they used Agave nectar which adds a trace amount of sweetness. And it actually tastes normal. It's like fizz water, with a slight amount of flavor to make it not suck and I love it. I also love that they use aluminum cans from recycled material instead of plastic bottles. They call it "death to plastics" and it is something I can totally get behind, because plastics are hard to recycle, whereas aluminum and glass are easily recycled (most of your fiber glass insulation might be from recycled glass).

Also, the water is natural carbonated water, not water taken and then carbonated in post.

I'm a fan of the berry flavor. The others are fine.

They have teas, too, but their sparkling waters are what I like.

Thoughts on Liquid Death, or do you have a favorite sparkling water yourself?

Don't know about liquid death, but me and the wife have been going through a number of drinks to find some tasty non-sugary drinks. Main ones I can remember are Ice, Hint and Karma, plus some store brand versions of all. Currently though, we discovered that the Clear American brand of sparkling waters in Walmart are pretty damn tasty. They come in both cans and 1L bottles with an okay variety in flavors. The kids like the mandarin orange from that so it's a good soda replacement for them.

La Croix's carbonation taste like ass water. I can't stand it. It's the main reason why many other fizzy drinks taste horrible to me when otherwise they should be flavors I adore.

I found out recently that I do like sparkling water. I hate flat water. I will dress it up some times. I let my kids add a True Limon/Lime thing you add for bottled water to make a soda. I add some stevia sweetned Sparkle collagen powder to mine. I don't know if the collagen is helping with anything else but it makes my nails nice and strong.

First, I have to commend your assessment on water.

Second, I haven’t tried any of the sparkling waters, and turned away a can of La Croix after simply smelling it. How does water flavored with something SMELL WATERED DOWN?!

Third, I stopped trying different flavored waters after that bullshit all of the bottled brands were trying years ago… lightly fruity water. This thread may change that.

Fourth, fuck La Croix one more time for good measure. The memes are right about it. I’ll never doubt the internet again.

TBF, Liquid Death tastes like "lightly fruity water" but instead of just random "natural flavors", they add actual flavors and the Agave Nectar that helps a lot with making it taste like what the label says.

For instance here are the ingredients for the "Berry It Alive" flavored water:
Carbonated Water (obviously), Agave Nectar, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors (Passionfruit, Raspberry, Blackberry, Hibiscus, Black Cherry).
No additional bullshit, no unknown shit ingredients. No added "minerals". It's carbonated water that tastes like a slightly sweetened berry flavored drink. 4g of added sugar (the agave).

Liquid Death had a very short run in Canada. It was only available from a few places (Whole Foods, Amazon, or the LD website), and they only offered their basic mountain or sparkling water, so I haven't tried all of the various flavours they have in the US. I'm not sure why it left, but it's been gone for somewhere under a year.

That said, it is legit one of my favourite brands ever. Firstly, it's clearly designed for people in the metal/punk subculture, so that makes me more likely to support it. I can't believe they don't have every small concert venue in every city stocking this stuff - seems like a no-brainer. Second, I don't drink alcohol, and if you've ever had a period in your life where you don't drink, you'll know that every person in the world asks you why you aren't drinking alcohol. This thing looks like a can of beer, so I think it reduces that social pressure to drink (not that I care what others think, but there's only so many times you can deal with that question). Lastly, I am trying to cut down on drinking coke/pepsi, and I find this really helpful. I'm not sure if I'm somewhat addicted to the act of opening a can of something and drinking, but this is a great alternative.

I don't really like sparkling water, so I only drink the mountain water. Hopefully it comes back to Canada soon, but luckily, my parents picked up a few cases the last time they went to the US!

One of the concert venues here has the regular Liquid Death mountain water. It's like a dollar more than the bottled water.

The cans do have the labels that make you think they're beer cans. The recycling looks like the "alcohol is bad for pregnant people" warning from afar. The regular mountain water cans have no Nutrition Facts label, as well. Anyone looking at you from afar could easily assume you're drinking a tall boy can of beer.

I've only had the mountain water but I do like the artwork on the cans of Liquid Death. I don't like light flavor in the water so I have not tried the others. To steal a Mitch Hedberg analogy, the light flavor is like a turtleneck - a weak guy trying to strangle you all day. Either do the flavor or be water.
my thing is that I want a soda like drink without all the sugar and none of those shit artificial sweeteners, but I also don't want water.

I wonder what percentage of people who don't like plain water can be explained by them growing up around gross tap water. I'd understand wanting extra flavor in your water if you're in Phoenix, Vegas, or Iowa.
This! I grew up with tap water that from a natural spring near by. It was good and had no issue with it. The tap here sucks. Straight from the tap it has a chlorine taste to me. Filtered it has next to no taste. I want to get a reverse osmosis system installed in our house one day.

NYC water is the reason their pizzas come out different even when you follow the recipe to the letter.

I knew someone whose family owned a few pizza shops. They originally had shops in Brooklyn then moved to New Jersey. They would pay to shop water from Brooklyn to New Jersey to make their pizza with
