How y’all Muricans managing? Especially you sorry SW fuckers?

Our window unit took a shit. It was 90F in the bedroom last night after midnight.

I managed to schedule a delivery for today since in-store stock is shit but the distro centers are stocked.

AC is a lifesaver for sure. And im in the NE. Sadly, the wife has gotten so used to them that she wants to run one even when it gets to 60s or below basically until it's winter. I like moderate or slightly cool temps, but she prefers an ice box.

Your wife is like my ginger from the depths of hell. She requires constant refrigeration to be preserved on the surface of earth. Luckily, I love the cold as well. I spend enough time in the heat and I’m getting old and bitter about it.

I hear ya. I do still prefer the cold over heat until it becomes closer to freezing. Or having a freezing cold AC blast directly on me. I got nothing against wrapping a blanket over me, but I don't want that to be the prerequisite to enjoying life outside 100 degree weather.

I think I'm fine until low 80s before I'm starting to seek the cold. A bit of warmth is fine for me, but after living through decades of Finnish winter I'm done with everything related to cold and snow and whatnot.

Nah, see, you can gimme the temps of winter without the weather and I’m good with that. You can always put on enough clothes to be warm in any climate. You can’t get naked enough to escape the heat.

In craziest news of it's hot:

Triple digit water temps.

Holy fuck… that is ridiculous. Imagine having to get out of the ocean because you’re too warm.

Sadly, I've rarely if ever seen those nice cold sunny days and calm days. It's always something like cloudy, windy, and in the megatives.

But yes. The cold is easier to deal with by just wearing more clothes, but just the feeling of being cold in general is far worse than being hot imo.

Saaame here. She keeps both AC's on the 60 degree setting all summer. I'm so cold at home in the summer.

We also install them in April and keep them in until early November because YOU NEVER KNOW IF IT MIGHT BE 75 IN OCTOBER.

Problem I'm having today is it is so hot and humid that my AC's are both leaking water because they are creating an excessive amount. Modern window AC's don't have drain plugs because they recirculate the water into mist to cool the interior parts but when it's too moist outside it just leaks!

I spent a good part of my morning finding a way to fix it without drilling a hole in the carriage so it leaks away from my siding/window sill. The key is gauze!

I took my humidity thermometer outside today just for kicks and giggles - inside my house the humidity was 55%, I walk out the door and it instantly jumped to 94% and then climbed to 97%. No wonder my house has wet rot on one side, its like a wall of water outside all summer.

This is what fucks me up the most about you.

Forget about the trans part. That’s nothing.

You and your people are from across the pond… and of ALL the states y’all decided to make your home here… Arifuckinzona. One of the HOTTEST ones. Bonkers.
Well we tried California, it was too expensive and too many baristas. We tried Arkansas and I just couldn't figure out the banjo and didn't have any cousins, so...nope. We tried Texas, that was nice, good people, but fuck the humidity and fuck the politics. So...Arizona. It's just like home...except in every single way.

Nah, fuck all those states. I’ve never been to and don’t know much about them, however… fuck them. They’re too hot for my air conditioned ass.

ALSO.

NEW WINDOW UNIT INSTALLED.

FOREHEAD CONDENSATION EVAPORATING.

...it's still too hot...could do with a freak snow shower right about now.

I am worried about the peak of hurricane season. With how warm the water is, a tropical system would have an absolute field day and have a ton of energy to intensify.
Eek, that's a true concern, hopefully that doesn't come to fruition!

I felt some rain drops the other day and that was it.
Sounds about right for Arizona. 3 seconds of rain to "cool things down" and then right back to!
It's pretty miserable here in Ireland. We got about 4 weeks of really warm weather earlier in the year and it's just rained since.

Felt like 120 here in MO yesterday afternoon then a storm came through and knocked out power for 120,000 people. Was not fun.

Hahaha, you poor souls.

I'm in Oregon and have turned on my a/c once the entire summer. I open the windows at night and shut them during the day and occasionally regret it because the house stays too cold all day. So to answer your question, I'm managing fine with the occasional blanket.

Parts of Arizona have topped 110 degrees for nearly a month straight, right? When will we admit that state is no longer habitable?

Oregon doesn't get humid? That's why I run my A/Cs 18 hours a day, keeping the humidity levels down. It's either that or dehumidifiers, which make the house hot, and then have to run the A/Cs anyway.

Certain areas do based on what I’ve heard. Bumfuck, Oregon might not… but I have a friend who lives in Beaverton that was suffering last year in the heat, but they don’t have HVAC the way we do over here. You’re looking at window units and MAYBE mini-splits in some places.

If I were smart I'd hang out at Costco from open to close in their cold room.

Yeah, that won’t get you institutionalized at all. “Security, we have a ginger in the walk-in that has been there for 11 hours now. She refuses to leave. No, she’s not a danger to anyone… she’s just… chillin…”

Ginger AND trans in Arizona doing nothing. That's an all-call!

It probably wouldn't.

"Ma'am, why are you in the freezer?"
"Have you been outside?"
"...we're going to continue to monitor the situation in the freezer"
