Imposter! (Game 1)

Each round, 3 of the players will be DMed the "Secret Word" (which could be a multi-word title, but we will try to keep it succinct), related to the theme of the game. The 4th player will be the Imposter. Each player will, in order, post 1 word related to the Secret Word. The Imposter, not knowing the word, is going to try and bluff their way through the game and try to figure out the word or phrase.

The round continues until one of the players declares, on their turn, that they think they know who the imposter is, naming them. If they are right, they get a point. If they are wrong, the Imposter gets a point. Then the Imposter gets a chance to guess the Secret Word for an additional point.

Also, on any of their turns, the Imposter can out themselves and guess the Secret Word. If they are correct, they get 2 points. If they are wrong, they lose a point.

Most points after 5 rounds is the winner.

Yes, exactly

each individual secret word will be related in some way to the greater theme of Nintendo

the "clues" each non-imposter gives should be directly related to the secret word. I may ask in DM for clarification if I don't see the correlation

what is your protocol if someone uses an invalid word then? how do you correct that without outing someone?

so if a non imposter uses an invalid word, automatic win for the imposter?

I'm sure there is a mechanical way to do this if you really wanted, like as a mod, we could make it so you have to approve posts here.

but that would slow the game down ofc.

trying to brain storm other ways you can fix it without outing anyone.

In the future I'll start the round by giving a clue, so that it's not screwing over the Imposter if they have to go first...and so you can't assume the first person isn't the Imposter

I'll start a new round later today.

I was wondering this. It was obviously one of the two, but the two are so close that I wonder what optimal strategy is for an Imposter. Just keep saying words until someone says something that differentiates "Samus" from "Metroid" maybe? The thing is, I can't think of anything that would only apply to one of them.
