Alt-rock

Great thing about alt rock is that it fits so many different genres that it's basically cheating to use it, but IDK.
I was thinking along the same lines as this. You can get so much variation to not get bored at all.

But before that, I'd also be on board vidya geam music. I have a short Spotify list of some covers of many fun things I like.

It'd be hip hop for me.

I grew up listening to it. I listen to most things now but with no one else around and if I get to choose the music, I go back to hip hop.

I have a playlist on pandora that is just this. I read once that a lot of video game music was designed to help you focus on the task at hand in the game, so I listen to it a lot when my ADHD is preventing me from doing things
That's very interesting! In retrospect video game music has been an ADHD tool I think, and also an ADHD hyperfocus. I started playing piano when I was 5, but I didn't really get into it until I discover Nobuo Uematsu and some amazing Final Fantasy piano arrangements. Video game music literally fueled my 30 years of being a musician and still does today!

I was watching some recommended videos by YouTube and one of them was an opera singer who among things has listened, broken down, and reviewed video game music. What he said in an interview with another musician or singer was that he also got into it all thanks to Nobuo Uematsu.

Other than through my own uneducated, but still valid, personal opinion, VG music is sometimes even more amazing than many other compositions. And some of those videos showcasing other folks being introduced to them and them being amazed how good they are was great. There's been a lot of evolution from just 8 and 16 bit jingles, but even some of them are great in their own regard. And now you can have a full orchestra making you anything for your game if you want.
