I haven't for a while actually (not at my own place that is). I'll sometimes play at someone else's house if that's part of the plan (recently went to a dinner party that involved Mario Party after we ate, for instance).

Recently I've been tempted to get a Switch though. Both the BotW games are big draws...but I've been able to hold off because I think they'll suck too much of my time up. Then Nintendo comes out and announces a remake of Super Mario RPG and I'm like "That won't suck all of my time..."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not actively against gaming. I just don't think I want to spend that much of my time on it anymore.

I try to carve an hour or so out at the end of the day to decompress if I can, if not… no big deal. The fact that I’m quite literally a generation behind helps with that, because I’m not necessarily worried about brand new releases.

The Switch is one of the best gaming systems I've ever played. I hadn't owned a Nintendo console since the N64 (though I'd played the others at friends' houses), and it's incredible the sheer amount of Nintendo's back catalogue that is available on the Switch. Between new games, remakes, and Nintendo Switch Online, I've had a never-ending list of stuff to balance alongside playing Playstation stuff.

The only two things I'd be aware of before jumping in are: (1) you should buy a Pro Controller along with the system. It's probably the best controller I've ever used, and much better than using the Joycons; and (2) 1st party Switch games never come down in price. Nintendo does do sales 3-4 times a year, but they're always pretty minor. I mainly bring this up because I think there are a lot of people that buy the Switch and then don't realize that you have to pay near full price for every game. Not a huge deal if you don't plan on gaming a ton though.

With only a few exceptions (mostly Zelda), I just wait for the sales for games, but it's still pricy. They also recently came out with some sort of voucher system where you can pay less than the cost of 2 games to get 2 games.

I have a friend/former member and another friend that have told me these points recently. One had to replace his original controller because of stick drift within DAYS of purchase with light use. He upgraded to the pro controller and hasn’t experienced an issue since… personally, it makes me wonder if they’re doing that on purpose to push people to get the pro controllers.

Definitely grab a switch, so good for while you're on the go. Stuck in a waiting room? Switch! Airport? Switch! Boring movie? Switch!
This really is the draw of the Switch to me. It's great if you want to play, but don't want to commit too much time to playing. You can put it into sleep mode mid-action, so you start the console in two days' time, and in 2 seconds you're in a game, right where you left off.

BotW and TotK are huge time sinks, it's true. There's just so damn much to do. If you're looking to just casually get into gaming again, there's other games. Like you mentioned, Super Mario RPG takes less than 15 hours to run through.
