Hot Sauce

I'm a coward, I can't go too hot, but I do enjoy spice. Some nice chili sauces out there, for sure. Never had the nerve to try Da Bomb or The Last Dab, probably never will.

I love hot/spicy food, obviously within my tolerance. Hot wings, ghost pepper/habanero/jalapeno cheeses, spicy chili, hot/spicy chips, jalapeno jam/jelly, buffalo sauce in general.

Hot sauce is such a wide category. For me it depends on the food. I like hot sauce on fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, etc, or sometimes red pepper flakes. I like hot salsa, but I've had some that is just way too hot.

Hot for the sake of being hot is dumb. The original blazin' wings at buffalo wild wings is a prime example. There was just heat and no good flavor. The newer blazin' (which isn't that new) is better since it uses ghost pepper, but still too hot for me to enjoy.

I like a mix of either sweet and heat, like mango habanero or sweet chili, or savory and hot, like a spicy venison chili or a burger with jalapenos and cheese. Oh, and jalapeno bottle caps or jalapeno poppers (cream cheese) are awesome.

I love spice. It needs to have flavor in it though, that's why I like things like Cholula and peri peri sauce and whatnot.

Indian food is also a great place to get delicious and spicy all in one. Also certain Chinese cuisines do it well as well.

When I was in Mexico earlier this year it was just mountains of delicious heat for my face all the time as well.

However, my step mother thinks I'm all about hot for the sake of hot and has gotten me Christmas gifts of box sets of hot sauces. I tend to just go through and pick out the ones that look like they might carry some flavor in them as well and then give away the rest.

I have a rich history of eating lots of hot foods, love it. Even the silly hot shit I'm into.

But since having a kid we don't really make anything that spicy that often at home anymore, and I've found myself just not really having spicy spicy stuff all that often.

I grew up on thee blandest shit going though, my parents (and their parents) couldn't cook for their lives. I don't know how I tolerate spice so well.

These are strange.

Last Dab is WAY higher scoville rating but I don't find it as bad as Da Bomb. Don't get me wrong, it's HOT but it actually tastes good.

Da Bomb tastes like a blend of stomach acid and death.
I could always tell based on the reactions of the guests that Da Bomb was the hardest to do. When the Last Dab sauce was created, you can tell the guests had a lot easier of a time with that compared to the two before, despite the "highest scoville rating". I firmly believe that's just for their marketing purposes.

Man, same here. I hate how everyone thinks I'm so one-dimensional lol. I love a wide variety of food, not just hot. It got to the point where I couldn't get through the hot sauces fast enough. If somebody got me for secret Santa or wanted to give me a gift and weren't sure, I knew it would be hot sauce.

Yeah, I think Da Bomb is just made to be as hot as hell, zero thought to flavour, super acidic, so it overloads the taste buds, while the Last Dab is properly hot but actually has thought behind it, so your senses are recovering from pure hell while you focus on the final two actually flavourful sauces that takes the hot factor and makes your mind focus elsewhere. Psychology! ...or just marketing bollocks

My wife is the one who is really into hot stuff. I'm perfectly fine with everything to about habanero levels, but I'm very easily turned off by just spicy things without good flavor behind it. I'm not that much of a glutton for punishment. I want something out from this too!

As for what specifically... Don't know. There's local gas stations that make a good buffalo chicken pizza. Not sure which sauce is in that, but it's only a little spicy after being mellowed out by the ranch and cheese. Very good combo. Beyond that, the classic red rooster logo sriracha sauce, and that gross orange looking "wing sauce" that you get like a dollar per bottle in dollar stores, but it's amazing for the price and quantity you get.

Last new years, my brothers and I did the One Chip Challenge. It was insane. One of my brothers got a nose bleed.

One really difficult part was however they prepare this chip, it was like eating a brick of fucking charcoal, so it also took so long to chew and swallow

Hmm, really? I did that and it was like eating a normal chip texture-wise, nothing like charcoal. I wonder if your chips were old or something.

I did a gummy bear challenge where the gummy was so hard and impossible to chew, it took me multiple minutes to get it down. I'm not sure if it was intentionally that way to inject more misery into the challenge or if it was just stale, but it was awful. So if your chips were anything like that, I certainly sympathize.

But seriously, I love me some Cholula.

What is absolutely baffling to me, is the obsession with Tabasco sauce. It's basically vinegar with some chili in it.
Tabasco was top of mind when I complained about "hot sauces" that just taste like vinegar.

From everything I've heard I refuse to do this one. I've heard of bleeding and ulcer issues.

Just not worth it.
What?! Did they change this chip within the last couple of years?

*Googles*

Oh, yeah, they did do something to it recently. It used to be very hot but still tolerable if you were acclimated to eating very spicy food. It sounds like now it's somehow killing people?! WTF did they do?!
