Yep. Once as a passenger, twice as a driver. The one as a passenger I was in the back of my own Suburban because I was having a sugar crash, so my dad was driving because I was unable to and I had to make an appointment. He was so busy telling off an "idiot" who was driving slow he didn't see traffic brake in front of him. Fucked my shoulder up from the impact.

The two while driving I was in parking lots both times and got hit by people with no concept of looking before they move.

Yes, I tried handbraking a Vauxhall Corsa around a corner on a gravel road when I was 17. It did not go around the corner, it went straight ahead in to a ditch.

Wasn't hurt and got it pulled out with a tractor, but definitely learned a lesson that day.

At least you tried, lol. Every young driver gets that urge. Thankfully you weren't hurt!!

Once.

I was in line to get to the drive in and a big pickup truck reversed into my parked sunfire and drove up onto the hood.. while we were in it and there was a lineup of cars behind us.

Apparently the driver didn't see us.

No one was hurt, although I wanted to punch the guy.
There was a line to get in and he didn't see the car behind him? In that line? I call bullshit on that guy!

I was sideswiped on the Cross Bronx Expressway and they drove off so I chased them down. Instructed my insurance to not pay them a dime. They had someone meet them at the location and state they were in the car at the time but I told the police it was all bullshit, especially when you look at the scratch marks, you can see that the woman hit me. All I know is my insurance didn’t increase and the only damage to my car was cosmetic and her car lost her side mirror and damaged her headlight on the driver side

That’s a rough road there, dude. I despise it.

I have far too many incidents to list. It’s a wonder I’m even here and was spared any major injury beyond a concussion. I’ve had so many close calls, but I’m pretty sharp on the road and manage to avoid what I can. Best advice I can give anyone is if you haven’t spun your vehicle out or attempted hard maneuvers to know what it’s capable of, do it. Learn what can happen, how to react, how not to react, all of it. Do it in a controlled scenario like a parking lot that way when it happens on the highway… you already know what to do.

I’ve been certified on the same course they trained the state troopers on here back when I was on the road. Some areas offer similar programs for collision avoidance, defensive driving, etc. It also doesn’t hurt to learn a little bit of physics… like how to strike an animal or another vehicle “correctly” to minimize risks. The way I see it, there’s always going to be a risk on the road… so any little bit extra helps.

Twice.

First time was in a toll booth line just outside of South Bend. Dude decided that the line he was in wasn't good for him and backed into me. Proceeded to lie to the cop about how I rear-ended him. Luckily, being at a toll booth lane, there are security cameras and my insurance company was able to find him at fault due to those.

Second time I slid into a ditch because I couldn't stop my car. No working ABS contributed to that one. Tires locked up while braking. Lost a bumper. Got a shitty replacement. Haven't had a good bumper on my car since. Got a replacement that is more OEM style, but I had issue with rivets and the fog lights the shop replaced my old ones with for the replacement bumper don't fit the OEM style bumper. Plus, my suspension is too low and I need to get it worked on before I can think about reinstalling the bumper.

Funny thing about the second one, I was sure I took out a mailbox, but I couldn't find it to see who it belonged to, and the cops didn't see one either. Also, a snow truck stopped by my accident to make sure I was okay and like a couple minutes later, some lady slid into his truck. Also, I was able to drive back home after the accident. Only lost the bumper (my brother took care of it). Headlights were working fine. The autobody shop had to replace the radiator with a seemingly worse one that made a lot of noise. I also got to drive a Camero and learned that I never want to drive a Camero again. Can't see shit in those things.

I've spun around on an icy road once, but could stay on the road. Another type with some inches of snow on the road on my way to work I hit the side of a bigger drift and it took me into a cornfield. That did break the plastic in one of my front wheelwells. And the biggest thing was when I backed into a rental car of some quebecuois at dark in a mcdonalds parking lot. All my fault though.

Oh. I did have a woman somehow "accidentally slide" her truck into my car when we were both taking a left turn at lights. We both had our own lane and I was way over on the outside one. Bit of bent metal on the door, but her truck was in general worse shape than mine so I didn't care to bother with it as she probably couldn't have afforded the insurance hit. And not like a dent on my door did much other than look weird

Had one back when I was 22, where I managed to rear end someone. Still not sure how. All I know is I put two sets of small scratches on their car, and MY car popped the airbags, for no particular reason. Also, December 14th of 2021 was when I went from ambivalent to the lives of deer to wanting them all DEAD. They are a god damn plague around here like they never have been before. They need to put bounties on them at this point. 50 bucks for a buck's ear. Or doe, I don't really care.
